The long-running CBS drama Blue Bloods is coming to an end. Recently, the series stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan shared their feelings on The Drew Barrymore Show.

During their appearance, which included a preview of the show’s final season, Wahlberg and Moynahan expressed a profound sense of loss. The duo, who have been staples of the series since its inception, spoke about the deep connections they’ve forged over the years, not just with their characters but with the entire crew. When asked about their feelings towards the series ending, Moynahan and Wahlberg replied:

Wahlberg: ” More upset and sad.”

Moynahan: “I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew — most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything. We’ve been through it all with each other.”

The decision to conclude the series was first reported in November, revealing that the final season would be split into two parts, with a total of 18 episodes. This structure aims to give the show a proper send-off, but it has not quelled the desire among some, including star and executive producer Tom Selleck, to continue the story. The actor expressed a lingering hope for the show’s extension, despite CBS’s firm plans for a conclusive eight-episode finale.

“They say it’s an eight-episode wind-down, and I say, ‘We’ll see.’ Look, I’ll do whatever is best for the whole situation. But I love this show, obviously. And I think CBS is going to end up being very conflicted with their present plans.”

Tom Selleck Bids Farewell to Frank Reagan as Blue Bloods Concludes Its Run

Selleck had a reflective look back at his years portraying New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. The show, which has anchored CBS’s lineup since 2010, will end its run with Season 14.

During an interview with TV Insider, Selleck expressed deep gratitude for the role and the series that has been an important part of his career. He said:

“For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family.”

Selleck acknowledged the collaborative effort that brought Blue Bloods to life, from the dynamic cast and creative team to the supportive network. Over the span of 275 episodes, Selleck’s Frank Reagan has been at the heart of the show, guiding viewers through the challenges and triumphs of his family and his city with a steady hand.

” Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true, and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes. Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support, and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Beyond the badge and the Reagan family dinners that became a staple of the series, Selleck also noted the show’s loyal viewership.
