The long-running CBS drama Blue Bloods is coming to an end. Recently, the series stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan shared their feelings on The Drew Barrymore Show.
During their appearance, which included a preview of the show’s final season, Wahlberg and Moynahan expressed a profound sense of loss. The duo, who have been staples of the series since its inception, spoke about the deep connections they’ve forged over the years, not just with their characters but with the entire crew. When asked about their feelings towards the series ending, Moynahan and Wahlberg replied:
Wahlberg: ” More upset and sad.”
Moynahan: “I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew — most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything. We’ve been through it all with each other.”
The decision to conclude the series was first reported in November, revealing that the final season would be split into two parts, with a total of 18 episodes. This structure aims to give the show a proper send-off, but it has not quelled the desire among some, including star and executive producer Tom Selleck, to continue the story. The actor expressed a lingering hope for the show’s extension, despite CBS’s firm plans for a conclusive eight-episode finale.
“They say it’s an eight-episode wind-down, and I say, ‘We’ll see.’ Look, I’ll do whatever is best for the whole situation. But I love this show, obviously. And I think CBS is going to end up being very conflicted with their present plans.”

Selleck had a reflective look back at his years portraying New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. The show, which has anchored CBS’s lineup since 2010, will end its run with Season 14.
