“We’Re The Third-Highest Scripted Show In All Of Broadcast”: Tom Selleck Prays Cbs Comes Back To Senses As He Is Not Ready To Leave Blue Bloods After 14 Years

For the better part of the last decade and more, Blue Bloods has been enticing viewers with its engaging storyline and characters who come from a multi-generational family of cops. Focusing on the lives of the Reagan family, each character has their own unique strength and weakness to face as they battle the challenges associated with being a police officer, giving the drama an added edge over the plethora of other police-based TV shows.

Despite having a splendid run and a huge fan base, the show will be ending soon with its two-part final season. However, the star of the show, Tom Selleck, still hopes that CBS will come to its senses and not cancel a show that continues to enjoy huge popularity.

Tom Selleck Wants Blue Bloods To Be Reinstated

For the last 14 years, Tom Selleck has starred as the head of the Reagan family and the NYPD police commissioner, Frank Reagan. Blue Bloods not only focuses on his life as the titular character but also his relationship with his four kids, who are also police officers.

Exploring the complexities and challenges of their personal and professional lives, Blue Bloods is as much a family drama as it is a police drama. Despite its long run, the show has not lost its juice and continues to enjoy a high popularity (see CBS News).

And to have it canceled was not only a surprising decision but an appalling one, and Tom Selleck still hopes that the drama gets reinstated. During his recent interview with CBS News, he stated,

“I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Having played Commissioner Reagan since 2010, the actor was initially honored to be part of the show and ready to say goodbye (via Variety). However, his latest stance is understandable, for even wants don’t want the show to be canceled.

Fans Don’t Want Blue Bloods To Be Canceled

From fans to the cast, nobody wants Blue Bloods to be canceled. It was only recently that CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach stated that the series will wrap up this year and that despite everyone’s passion for the show, CBS will cancel the show to refresh the schedule a bit (see Deadline).

While Tom Selleck has already made it known that it is a stupid decision to cancel a show as popular as Blue Bloods, even fans are not ready to say goodbye. Across the internet, hashtags like #SaveBlueBloods and petitions continue to trend as fans call out CBS for canceling the hit show.

The first half of the show’s season 14 was released on February 16, and the second half will be released in October, with the series finale airing in December. With everyone from the cast to fans disheartened to see the series go, only time will tell what lies in store for the show in the future.
