Yellowstone’S Terrible Season 2 Storyline Will Have Fans Thanking Paramount For Canceling The Show After 5 Seasons

Despite being one of the most popular shows to hit the small screen in the last 6 years, Paramount is set to pull the plug from Yellowstone, which will conclude with the second half of season 5. While it’s surely a bummer, as there were plans for more seasons, the alleged dispute between Kevin Costner and the studios led to its falling out. In hindsight, it seems it happened for the best.

It’s not uncommon for great shows to botch their landing, and Yellowstone might’ve suffered the same fate if it continued past season 5, as the cracks started to become visible in season 2.

Fans Point Out Glaring Issues with Monica’s Character in Yellowstone

Although Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone is arguably one of the biggest shows in recent times, it’s not immune to flaws. And the cracks in the writing were more noticeable after the first season, especially with Monica Dutton’s character. In their post for season 2 of Yellowstone, one Reddit user pointed out the glaring issues with Monica Dutton’s storyline. The user complained about the inconsistencies in her writing, as many plot points are dropped without any proper explanation.

For example, the user noted that when she takes her entire class to the Native-American rap concert, she starts to cry in the middle of it, but no explanation is given regarding it later on. Moreover, despite Kelsey Asbille‘s great performance in the role, fans have often pointed out their frustrations with her character arc, as oftentimes it deals with her suffering.

From suffering a brain injury in season one to being attacked during a home invasion in season 4, and now losing her unborn son in a car crash, it’s reasonable to see why fans are a bit worn off. With the second half of season 5 set to conclude things for the Dutton family, fans will hope things will finally change.

Yellowstone Star Assures Deserved Conclusion to the Series

The problems with Monica’s writing throughout season 2 are one of the many issues that fans have had with the Western drama. For example, in the same Reddit post, the user listed their issues with the Rainwater and Jenkins deal, and the Beck brothers’ storyline, with commenters agreeing that this type of writing continues throughout the series.

But with the upcoming second half, we might finally have more answers than questions, as according to Yellowstone star Ian Bohen, the show will give fans one of the best finales in history.

We’re expecting to have the best series finale in history. Overconfident maybe, but I think that’s what it’s going to be. We thank everyone for their patience

While that’s a bold claim to make and fans will have to wait and see it for themselves, at the very least, Yellowstone isn’t making the mistake of going on for too long without a specific direction.
