Over the past few years, no show has been able to attract as many loyal viewers as Yellowstone. Fans of the Western genre have been happy to see the show go mainstream and continue to succeed with each new spin-off that Taylor Sheridan has created. At this point, Yellowstone is more than just a show, it is a brand.
To say that people were devastated to see the show go off the air due to a scheduling conflict with its star, Kevin Costner, would be an understatement. However, the prospect of getting another spin-off to continue the story has since calmed the majority of fans.
Especially now that the creators are teasing new beginnings for some of the familiar characters.
What Will the New Yellowstone Spinoff Be About?
Presumably starring Matthew McConaughey, the 2024 spinoff promises to continue the story in a new light. So far, most of the details are being kept under wraps, as the script is still being written. However, one thing is for sure: fan-favorite actress Kelly Reilly will be reprising her role as the controversial Beth Dutton.
This was confirmed by actor Cole Hauser, who stars alongside Reilly in Yellowstone as Rip Wheeler, her love interest with a long and complicated history. Hauser mentioned the spinoff plans in an interview with Country Living, but remained adamant about finishing the main show first:
“I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor’s ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast. I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that. But right now it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can,” he said.
While opinions on Beth Dutton’s character vary, with some appreciating a strong female antagonist and others hating her, the show wouldn’t feel the same without her. So whatever the mastermind behind the Yellowstone universe has in store for the couple together, as well as their characters separately, everyone is ready to buckle up for another ride.
As Cole Hauser mentioned, the top priority for both fans of the show and the crew behind the cameras is the Yellowstone finale. The final chapter of this story is about to go into production and premiere this fall, so keep an eye out for any news and behind-the-scenes updates.
