In Yellowstone, Kevin Costner plays the character of Montana Governor John Dutton, who must deal with challenges from his ranch family. Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler in the western drama, told Fox News Digital about how he bonded with fellow family man Kevin Costner on set. The show aired in 2018 and its fifth season in November 2022.
His co-star Cole Hauser – who plays Rip Wheeler – Dutton’s son-in-law, revealed how close he became to Kevin. Hauser said that what surprised him about Kevin was the kind of human being he was, before being a creative soul and an actor, Kevin was just an ordinary person. The actor revealed how they both came from the same area in California, and working together for the past five years they have become good friends, adding:
“I mean, I’ve learned a lot about just being a gentleman on set and just a class act…”
Kevin’s on-screen son-in-law praised the star for having a family, with three children and a “wonderful” wife. Hauser described the actor who played the governor as someone to be admired.
He praised Kevin’s storytelling, creativity, and desire to keep pushing things as a creator and called him “inspiring.” Despite being a big name in the acting business, the actor focused on being a typical parent.

Kevin has been married for 18 years and shares three children with his wife, Christine. However, Kevin has four older children from previous relationships. Kevin tells People magazine that being a father is one of his greatest pleasures. He explains that parents have to get down to play with their younger children, and it’s a special time that is not to be missed.
He urged parents to teach their children independence because they sadly often become that regardless, and he is just like any other parent in trying to figure it out as he goes. Kevin spoke about his then-teenage son, Hayes, with admiration. The boy was set to star in a four-part western called “Horizon”, and his father thought he was very talented.
The older Costner revealed that he purposely targeted Hayes and wanted to spend more time with him. He said he encouraged the same for his other two younger children, urging them to join him on set.
Kevin spends a lot of time with his family, despite working full time. He says that he works to provide for them and that he views himself as a provider. He believes that family is important and that it’s important to spend time together as a unit.
“When I’m not making a movie, I’m living and on the freeway with my wife, getting the kids to their stuff or I’m waiting for them to come out of a party.”

The star revealed he twiddled his thumbs while waiting on his children and that people had the wrong idea about how his life worked. Besides focusing on his private life, fans had much to look forward to for the fifth season of Kevin’s series.
