Amiah Miller offers an exciting update on the process of the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison. Yellowstone has already had two prequel series, 1883 and 1932, before wrapping up the Dutton family’s story in the fifth and final season later this year. The Madison is expected to be a sequel to the mothership show and part of Taylor Sheridan’s expanding Yellowstone universe, starring Michelle Pfeiffer in the lead role and following the McIntosh family’s story in the Madison River valley of Central Montana.
Amiah Miller, who plays Bridgette, Abigail’s eldest daughter in the show, talked to MovieWeb about her experience being on the show, including revealing that they are “filming right now in Montana.” Though it’s her first time working with the show creator, she has “always wanted to work with Taylor Sheridan,” and being on The Madison is “a dream come true.” The young star also expresses that fans of the franchise are “really gonna like the show”, believing it to be “a really special project.” Check out what Miller shared in the comments below:
It’s a really special project, and I’m so grateful. It was such a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to work with Taylor Sheridan. I met him at the screen test. And you know, I fought for the role, and I booked it, and yeah, it’s going really well. And we’re filming right now in Montana, and I had never been there before. It’s so beautiful, and everyone is so lovely… You’re really gonna like the show.
[He’s] so talented. He is such a busy man. Like, he will be editing one show and then writing another show, and then at the wrap party. And I’m just like, “How are you doing all of this? I don’t understand.” But yeah, he’s such a force, and I’m so grateful that he believed in me and gave me the part. And he called me himself and offered. He was like, “Hey Amiah, it’s Taylor. You want to be in my show?” I was like, “Yeah, I sure do, Taylor!”
What Miller’s Update Means For The Madison
It’s Right On Schedule
A previous update confirmed that the show was expected to go into production in late August 2024. Miller’s filming update comes right on time, suggesting that the show is progressing on schedule. The Madison is reportedly relatively short, consisting of only six episodes, which also likely means that it won’t be too long before The Madison hits the streaming platforms, as the series is scheduled to come out after the release of Yellowstone 5B.
With Miller’s update, it looks like a mid-2025 release might be possible. Additionally, with filming bringing Sheridan back to Montana, the series is coming together rapidly and taking place not so far from the Yellowstone Ranch, which opens the possibilities for the return of the Duttons. Paramount ordered the series last fall, and it only took a year for the show to be in production, which is a good sign. With Sheridan juggling multiple projects at once, as detailed by Miller, even a bump in the road could mean a huge delay, which doesn’t look to be the case with The Madison.
Our Take on The Madison Filming Updates
The Sequel Has A Story To Tell
Both 1883 and 1923 are intriguing, as they tap into different places in American history and tell distinctive stories with importance, which is what the Yellowstone franchise is about. These projects were able to come together so quickly because there’s never been a lack of inspiration. They fill the void of what’s missing from mainstream television, which is a refreshingly modern and insightful approach to the Western genre.
Similarly, The Madison will likely also tell a story with great importance. Though the series doesn’t focus on the Dutton family, it tells a story about grief and human connections that spotlights a woman’s perspective. Both 1883 and 1923 gave viewers a “special” feeling, and with Miller’s update, it seems that the new series has found a brand-new angle that separates itself from the rest.
