A new trailer for Yellowstone reveals chaos at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The upcoming Yellowstone season 5 part 2 will end the popular neo-Western series, but the franchise will continue with further seasons of spinoffs including 1923 season 2 and the upcoming The Madison. It will not feature star Kevin Costner as ranch patriarch John Dutton, as the former series lead departed the cast ahead of the final episodes after much speculation of behind-the-scenes drama with creator Taylor Sheridan.

The official Yellowstone YouTube account has unveiled a new official teaser for season 5 part 2. Check it out below:

The trailer opens with archive footage of John Dutton reflecting on how the ranch has been in his family for generations. This sets up how the stakes have never been higher, as the rest of his family has been plunged into chaos in his absence, with infighting and external forces threatening to rip the property from the Duttons’ hands once and for all.

Will The Duttons Lose In Yellowstone Season 5?
The End Of The Show Could Be The End Of The Yellowstone Dutton Ranch

Over the course of four-and-a-half seasons, Yellowstone’s Dutton family has had many goals that have frequently conflicted with one another, but one of their primary motivations has been to maintain ownership of the ranch despite many external forces attempting to take it away from them. However, this teaser reveals that the absence of their patriarch leaves them more vulnerable to these forces than they have ever been before. It is entirely possible that the show’s finale could see them losing the ranch they have fought so hard to keep over the years.

It remains to be seen how the story plays out as the long-running show draws to a close. The loss of the ranch would be incalculably important to the franchise as a whole, as its formation was the storyline at the center of the show’s first prequel spinoff, 1883, and the follow-up, 1923, is set during another historical epoch amid the Duttons’ occupation of the property. However, the glimpses of the remaining Yellowstone cast offered by the teaser showcase mounting tensions and shifting loyalties that could see all or most of them eventually leaving the ranch behind permanently.

Clues to the fate of the Yellowstone ranch may be hidden in the premise of the in-development spinoff The Madison. While details are murky, the show follows the wealthy Clyburn family moving to Montana after the death of their father. It is unclear how connected the show will be to the original show, but it is possible that they could be moving to the newly vacated ranch, should it have fallen out of the Duttons’ hands by that point in the franchise timeline.
