After five seasons many people’s getaway to ranch life has been wrapped up and a pretty little bow placed on top. Yellowstone’ wrapped up the hit TV series on Sunday night leaving many fans unhappy. They wrapped up the show with a final episode they named “Life is a Promise”. Many fans are claiming this ruined the show. WARNING- Season 5, Part 2 Spoilers to follow.
Yellowstone Making Ranch Life A Little More Accessible
Taylor Sheridan’s western saga Yellowstone brought ranch life to its viewers’ homes. The entire show was centered around John Dutton protecting his family’s legacy. After actor, Kevin Costner revealed he would be leaving the show, fans knew what was bound to happen. Season 5, Part 2 began airing in November and sent the show on a rollercoaster when it was revealed that John Dutton would be killed in a murder-for-hire plot.
Where Characters Became Family, Others Did Not
The official synopsis was “As the Duttons and the cowboys lay John to rest, the fate of the ranch is revealed”. Throughout the series, all of his children and himself were trying to keep the land away from developers. In the Yellowstone finale, they sold the ranch to Thomas Rainwater, which would in turn keep it from being developed. Rainwater and his people, the Native Americans, were the original owners of the land when the first Dutton settled there. This made the selling of the land a full-circle moment for ‘Yellowstone’.
Throughout the series, Beth Dutton and her brother Jamie Dutton have a never-ending feud caused by childhood trauma revealed earlier in the show. Beth Dutton had undeniable loyalty to her father throughout the entire saga. Beth hated her brother for not having the same loyalty. As the season comes to a close Beth, as promised, avenges John Dutton’s death. This event was very on par for her character. Fans are eagerly chattering about a possible Beth Dutton and Rip spin-off.
What Were Fans Reactions To John Dutton’s Fate?
Many fans found this turn of events outrageous, commenting “Absolute worst TV finale in TV history” on X, another fan wrote “10 minutes of action, surrounded by a Hallmark Movie.”
Taylor Sheridan, show director, and actor had some blowback following the finale from fans. Fans were outraged with his character and the events in the finale of the hit TV show. Many say that “he inserted himself, and his wooden, blowhard character in the finale”, another fan saying that they “hope to find someone that loves me half as much as Taylor Sheridan loves himself.”
Needless to say, the ending of many people’s favorite show, Yellowstone, did not go as hoped. Did you think they ruined the ending?
