Fans Are Pointing Out Kevin Costner’s Annoying On-Screen Habits on Reddit
Kevin Costner is known for being a compelling and interesting actor to watch on screen. He portrayed John Dutton in Yellowstone for 5 seasons and it has become his most popular role. But some fans have noticed and pointed out some annoying habits that Costner brings into John Dutton.
A user wrote in a subreddit called r/YellowstonePN,
“John Dutton/Kevin Costner sticking his tongue into his cheek…it’s constant! He doesn’t stop. This annoys me more than it probably should but I find it distracting from whatever he’s saying! I can’t be the only one to find this irritating?!”
Fans were quick to point out and criticize some other acting attributes and certain behavioral traits of John Dutton. Another user coolcootermcgee replied on the subreddit,
“Don’t forget the loud sniff before he says anything!!”
Another user Jason Starks criticized how the character speaks in the show by saying,
“He will also start just about every sentence with a few words, pause, repeat the last word he had said, then finish the sentence. He does it all the time,”
Another user even went to the extent of calling Costner a bad actor. EverettDonovan said
“I genuinely think Costner is not a really good actor, not just because of this, but in a broader sense. His performance on Yellowstone is probably the dullest.”

These are all somewhat hilarious and silly observations of the character from the point of view of certain fans. It is interesting to see how segments of audiences have a different perspective on a specific thing and it further boils down the fact that art is subjective.
Kevin Costner’s Next Film Was Conceived Way Back in 1988
Kevin Costner’s next passion project, a two-part western film called Horizon: An American Saga will be released in 2024. Costner had been trying to get the project made in 1988 but he couldn’t get studios to agree with his terms. But he worked hard to get the movie made and financed (from his own pockets). He told Deadline,
“I commissioned this story in 1988. Single movie, two-hander. A conventional Western with a beginning, middle, and end. I couldn’t get anybody to make it. Then, right after I made Open Range and it performed pretty well, I had a chance with Disney. We had a $5 million difference.
They had had a lot of money success with Open Range, but a $5 million difference kept them from making this movie. Now, I’m stubborn. Eight years later, I started thinking about the story and started writing with a partner, and it ended up being four screenplays. So I reverse-engineered everything from 1988. I thought it was really good. But I still couldn’t get anybody to make it.
At the end of the day, I’m a storyteller, and I went ahead and put my own money into it. I’m not a very good businessman, so, scratch your head, if you will. I don’t know why, but I have not let go of this one. I’ve pushed it into the middle of the table three times in my career and didn’t blink.”
The first chapter of the epic Western project will be released on June 28, 2024, and Chapter 2 will later be released on August 16, 2024.
