Alexandra Is The Royal Dutton In 1923
When the Yellowstone spinoff 1923 Season 1 finale episode aired in February 2023, the Dutton Ranch was under fire, thanks to some greedy and rich businessmen. Now, Spencer is on a journey back to Montana, with new wife Alexandra in tow. However, things go awry. Besides getting split up, it is revealed that Alex is royalty! How does this particular piece of information affect the Season 2 storyline?
Actress Julia Schlaepfer spoke to TV Line about her character and how her elevated status may or may not play a big part in the upcoming season of the Paramount+ limited series. Firstly, Alex is the Countess of Sussex. This is not to be confused with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Moreover, a Duchess has a higher rank than a Countess. But, it is up there in rank.
However, Julia clarifies, that while the character is “not historically based on her, but Alexandra, the Countess of Sussex, was a real person.” It turns out that Taylor Sheridan told Julia about her character with the caveat, “Obviously, don’t spend too much time focusing on that, because this isn’t a historical show.”
Ultimately, Julia Schlaepfer totally forgot that she played a royal. But, she was more caught up in the “grand love story” between Alex and Spencer, portrayed by Brandon Sklenar.
