Blue Bloods’ heart and soul is Frank Reagan. The character, played by the renowned Tom Selleck, is the New York City Police Commissioner and the father of the rest of the major group, thus it stands to reason that he is involved in all of the main stories in some way. It’s difficult to conceive a version of the show without him.

A Frank-less Blue Bloods may not have seemed imaginable before, but recent budget cuts, as well as suspected health issues, have left some fans to wonder whether the Reagan patriarch will return in 2024. Will he lead the charge in season 14 or delegate authority to his children?

Is Tom Selleck departing from Blue Bloods..?

Fortunately, Selleck isn’t going anywhere. When the show was not immediately picked up by CBS, Deadline informed fans that up to a quarter of the cast and crew would be removed to save money, but things appeared to have been worked out between the network and the show.

According to reports, the performers and producers agreed to compensation cuts so that crew members could keep their jobs and the production could continue.

A month after the budget drama was resolved, the outlet reported that Blue Bloods would return for season 14, with the principal cast, including Tom Selleck, remaining intact.

During an interview with TV Insider, Selleck discussed the joy and struggle of keeping the show entertaining after all these years.

He explained that the show is about a law-enforcement family and their point of view, but it doesn’t imply they’re always right and their opponents don’t have a point. Unless they’re simply murdering criminals.

In his new biography, You Never Know, the actor will also describe his experience on the police procedural.

The book will be released on May 7, 2024, and will chronicle his illustrious career on the small screen, so there will undoubtedly be some interesting and illuminating stories about being on set with co-stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan.

In the book’s press release, Selleck says, “From the USC basketball court to a happy accident, to discovering and then embracing the work I love.”

It’s a long, bumpy path filled with singles, home runs, and a lot of strikeouts. I believe it is time to share the ride.

When asked if he would like to see Blue Bloods continue for another fifteen seasons, or possibly more, Selleck expressed his desire. “I’ve got a mortgage,” he jokingly said. “I’m game!” We’re delighted to hear it.
