Amid Blue Bloods cancelation drama, Tom Selleck confirms one more season.
Blue Bloods has been on air since 2010, but in December 2023, CBS announced that the then upcoming Season 14 would be the TV show’s finale. Both fans and stars of the show took the news poorly, with the former launching petitions to prevent their favorite series’ cancellation, and the latter defending the show in interviews and public appearances.
Tom Selleck has been especially vocal trying to save Blue Bloods lately, but now the star actor confirms: there will be a Season 15, after all. It’s just a matter of definition.
Tom Selleck Promised Blue Bloods S15
Selleck is the Blue Bloods’ patriarch both on and off-screen, and it only makes sense that he’s the one fighting for the show’s survival. After a series of bold statements in his recent interviews, the TV star seemingly settled the matter in his own mind: having recently sat down with Country Living, Selleck promised fans a Season 15.
“They announced [S14] was gonna be our last season. <…> But what people don’t realize is, we’re gonna do a 15th season. We’re doing a 10-show season, like all the other shows because of the strike, for the 14th season. And we’ll do eight shows in the fall, the premier of our 15th season,” Selleck explained in the interview.

So, in Selleck’s new picture of the situation, there are no more Parts 1 & 2 for Season 14, with the latter being called Season 15 now. Convenient, isn’t it? But this statement almost sounds like the star actor gave up on the fight… Which he didn’t.
Tom Selleck Eager to Keep Blue Bloods Going
Despite the clearly defeated compromise of “I’ll just call S14 Part 2 a Season 15,” Selleck is still not ready to lay down the arms. The actor keeps up his public statements, waging a one-man war against CBS’s decision to cancel Blue Bloods, and even in this very same interview, he expressed hope the network backs off.
“I think CBS will come to their senses. <…> My hope is [that] CBS wakes up to the fact that we’re still winning the night on Friday night and performing on Paramount Plus, ” the actor elaborated.
He is right, of course: to this day, Blue Bloods is one of CBS’s best performers in terms of viewership. But so far, it seems like the network is hellbent on following through with the cancellation, especially since half of Blue Bloods fans agree that the show has run its course and needs to reach a fitting and satisfying conclusion.
