On the surface, shooting a TV show seems fun. Regardless of your position, you’re helping to tell a story that will hopefully go on to entertain millions. You play a small role in allowing people to momentarily forget their troubles and focus on whatever compelling story you’re trying to tell. And to that extent, it can be quite fun.
But there are also challenges that come with filming. Whether you’re a grip or one of the actors, there’s likely going to be something that gets in your way to make your job more difficult. And just because a show’s as finely-tuned as “Blue Bloods” doesn’t mean issues don’t still come up. Sometimes a certain scene will be difficult to get just right for whatever reason, and the cast is more than happy to discuss those challenges after the fact. Recently in an interview, Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan on “Blue Bloods,” spoke about the type of scene she has trouble getting right.
Bridget Moynahan has trouble shooting night scenes
TV Insider reached out to the cast of “Blue Bloods” with questions from fans in honor of the show reaching its milestone 250th episode. Naturally, viewers wanted to know everything about the series, from wondering if Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) would ever have another love in his life to asking if there would ever be a Father’s Day episode. One fan had a question for Bridget Moynahan specifically, which was, “What’s been your toughest scene to film?”
The actress responded, “Any scene shot at night is difficult because I am an early bird who goes to bed at 9:30.” It’s all part of Moynahan’s regimen to stay healthy, as she would later explain to The Bare Magazine, “Living a healthy lifestyle, using sunblock, drinking lots of water, it all adds up. I’m an early bird, too. I’ll start working at 4 a.m., but never keep me up until 4 a.m.”
As any “Blue Bloods” fan knows all too well, there have certainly been plenty of scenes with Erin Reagan out at night. It’s part of the territory when you’re the assistant district attorney. Hopefully, the film crew doesn’t keep her up too late during those takes.
