The Funniest Moment In Blue Bloods Season 5

Being a series about a family of police officers and other law enforcement officials, “Blue Bloods” doesn’t have to dig deep to find drama for its central Reagan family. From Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) chasing perps to Erin (Bridget Moynahan) battling in courtrooms and Frank (Tom Selleck) keeping his family in line and doling out wisdom, there have been plenty of memorable moments over the 12 seasons of “Blue Bloods.” What’s often too little discussed about the long-lasting series, however, is just how funny it can be.

“Blue Bloods” fits the procedural format of other cop dramas, but what makes it stand out is its focus on family. The Reagans are heroes at their jobs, but they deal with everyday issues, from raising children to finding their way out of money woes.

This personal bent to “Blue Bloods” and its tradition of keeping the Reagans a tight-knit family unit who manage to make it to family meals together despite disagreements has led to lots of funny and underrated moments in the show. One stand-out moment in Season 5 can be considered the best of its season, and it also happened to be when “Blue Bloods” crossed the milestone of 100 episodes.

The funniest moment of Season 5 is between Danny and his wife

The funniest moment of “Blue Bloods” Season 5 occurs during Episode 11, “Baggage.” The episode in question follows two main storylines: the main being Danny Reagan and his wife Linda (Amy Carlson) trying to refinance their mortgage, and the other being finding the identity of a street artist named Spanky (a play on Banksy).

The Spanky storyline provided plenty of entertaining scenes, but the funniest moment of Season 5 comes when Danny and Linda find out the bank they have been using for more than 20 years is refusing their refinancing application. While Danny typically has plenty of moments losing his cool, the couple show just how similar they are when they both react shocked to their failure to secure the loan.

The banker tells them to check back in a year to a year-and-a-half, leaving the couple perplexed just as a set of gun-toting thieves enter the bank. Danny plays things cool by hiding his badge and the fact that he’s a cop — something ruined when the banker asks him to “do something” about the robbery. When Danny doesn’t respond, the man turns to Linda and demands she tell her husband to stop the robbery. She responds with a perfect zinger, saying, “in, like, a year to a year-and-a-half.”
