Patrick J. Adams is undoubtedly most known for playing Mike Ross in Suits, but the Yellowstone spinoff The Madison could surpass the actor’s previous gig as his new character will do something viewers never got to see Mike do. Adams starred as Mike in the USA Network legal drama for seven seasons before leaving after the season 7 finale. The actor returned to reprise his role in a handful of episodes in season 9, the final season, in 2019. Since then, Adams has had a few supporting roles, but The Madison feels like his big return to TV.

Prior to the first episode of Suits, Adams’ Mike aspired to be a lawyer but was expelled from college. So, he took his skills (including his photographic memory) and used them to make money by taking other people’s LSATs for them. During the pilot, Mike accidentally stumbles into the room where Harvey Specter is conducting interviews for associate attorneys for the law firm Pearson Hardman. Mike impresses Harvey, who hires him despite his lack of a law license, and the rest is history. Mike accomplished a lot throughout Suits’ nine seasons, but one of his most important stories went untold.

Adams Stars As Russell McIntosh In The Madison

Patrick J. Adams has joined the cast of the Yellowstone spinoff The Madison, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2025. Adams is set to star as Russell McIntosh, a young investment banker, who, according to his character bio, “has followed the life path set before him from the start.” Unfortunately, not much else is known about Adams’ specific role other than that Elle Chapman is playing his wife, Paige McIntosh, and teases of his story from the show’s premise.

Aside from [Patrick J.] Adams and [Elle] Chapman, The Madison also features Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, Beau Garrett as Abigail Reese, and Matthew Fox as Paul.

Following the Suits series finale, Adams has had a few recurring roles on TV shows here and there, but nothing as substantial as The Madison. A lot of hype surrounds the Yellowstone project as it follows in the footsteps of the renowned original series and includes an all-star cast. Aside from Adams and Chapman, The Madison also features Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, Beau Garrett as Abigail Reese, and Matthew Fox as Paul. So, it seems like Adams might have another hit on his hands.

Adams’ Yellowstone Character Moves Out Of New York Like Mike Did In Suits
Mike Left Suits After Season 7

Similar to Mike’s exit from Suits after season 7, Patrick J. Adams’ Russell is also leaving New York City in The Madison. The upcoming Yellowstone spinoff follows Michelle Pfeiffer’s Stacy, a rich matriarch who moves herself and her family (which includes Russell) from New York to the Madison River valley of central Montana after a sudden tragedy. As an investment banker used to living in the biggest city in the United States, Russell’s journey will be interesting to watch. His story is also one that Suits fans never got to see with Mike.

After Mike quit the law firm and moved across the country to be with Rachel Zane,Suits viewers never witnessed the character’s post-New York life in Seattle. However, with The Madison, the audience will see Adams play a fish-out-of-water role. The Yellowstone spinoff shows the aftermath of Russell’s life after he leaves New York City, making up for Mike’s untold story in Suits.
