The trailer for Outlander season 7 part 2 has arrived. The popular time travel romance show, which stars Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, is based on the novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon and follows the love between World War II nurse Claire (Balfe) and 18th century Scottish warrior Jamie (Heughan). Ahead of the upcoming Outlander season 8, which will be the final season of the series, season 7 part 2 will conclude the ongoing season with eight additional episodes after a three-month hiatus, bringing its full total to 16.
STARZ has now unveiled the official trailer for Outlander season 7 part 2. It opens on a tender and calm moment where Jamie announces that the couple are returning home to Scotland. However, their peace is shattered when Claire’s medical expertise is needed to care for Lord John’s ailing nephew. After their separation, Claire receives word that Jamie has been injured in battle during the Revolutionary War, though she fiercely believes that he has survived.
Read the official synopsis for Outlander season 7 part 2, which is attached to the trailer release, below:
In Outlander Season 7, Jamie, Claire, and their family are caught in the violent birth pains of an emerging nation as armies march to war and British institutions crumble in the face of armed rebellion. The land the Frasers call home is changing – and they must change with it. In order to protect what they’ve built, the Frasers have to navigate the perils of the Revolutionary War. They learn that sometimes to defend what you love, you have to leave it behind. As the conflict draws them out of North Carolina and into the heart of this fight for independence, Jamie, Claire, Brianna, and Roger are faced with impossible decisions that have the potential to tear their family apart.
What This Means For Outlander
Jamie’s Fate Could Differ From The Original Books
The trailer seems to imply that the news of Jamie’s possible death is spurred by a gunshot wound he sustains in battle, which is a major change from the same event as depicted in the original 2009 novel An Echo in the Bone, which the season is adapting. In the book, Jamie is presumed lost at sea as opposed to sustaining a specific injury that causes these speculations. While he survives his predicament in the novel, the fact that it may play out quite differently onscreen leaves some doubt as to his fate in the show.
It is possible that the story could play out in a variety of unexpected ways.
The fact that Sam Heughan has already reunited with the rest of the Outlander cast to shoot season 8, which wrapped principal photography in September, likely means that Jamie will indeed live to see the end of the season. However, given the many twists and turns of the show, as well as the science fiction premise at the core of its storyline, it is possible that the story could play out in a variety of unexpected ways.
Our Take On The Outlander Season 7 Part 2 Trailer

As explosive as the Outlander season 6 ending was, the impending season 7 finale will likely be even more impactful.
