Blue Bloods may be known as one of the longest-running police procedurals in television history, but at the heart of the former CBS cop drama was family.
Every episode of the fan-favorite series, which concluded after 14 seasons in December 2024, features the extended Reagan family — led by Tom Selleck’s character, NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan — sitting down together for a Sunday dinner. The iconic scenes became a staple of the show and served as a way for the characters to check in with their loved ones after another dangerous week on the job.
“There’s a genuine affection when we get together for dinner scenes,” Donnie Wahlberg, who played Det. Danny Reagan, told PEOPLE in May 2024 about the show’s signature scenes. “If anyone’s struggling, by the end of that dinner scene, they’re back to being aware of how fortunate we all are.”
Off-camera, many Blue Bloods cast members were supported similarly by those closest to them, particularly their significant others.
From decades-long marriages to recent flings, here’s everything to know about the real-life partners of the Blue Bloods cast.
Tom Selleck and Jillie Mack
Tom Selleck, who played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for 14 seasons on Blue Bloods, has been married to his wife Jillie Mack for nearly four decades.
The couple first met in the early 1980s, when Selleck was playing the leading man in another hit TV show: the ’80s sitcom Magnum, P.I. In 1983, he spent time in London filming the movie Lassiter — and it was there that he crossed paths with Mack, who was starring as Rumpleteazer in the West End production of Cats.
“They had dinner one night and it went on from there,” Mack’s agent told PEOPLE.
On Aug. 7, 1987, Selleck and Mack secretly wed in Lake Tahoe, Nev. — even using fake names to help fool the media. It was Selleck’s second marriage, as the actor had previously been married to actress Jacqueline Ray from 1971 to 1982. Shortly after Selleck and Mack’s wedding, the actor quit Magnum, P.I., stepping away from the spotlight to start a family and live a quieter life on their ranch in Ventura, Calif.
While Selleck eventually returned to acting — appearing on television series including Friends and Las Vegas prior to Blue Bloods — his top priorities have always been his privacy and his family, which includes Mack and their daughter Hannah, who was born in December 1988.
“I’ve always treasured the balance between work and time with my family,” Selleck told PEOPLE in 2020. “It’s always about them.”
Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy
Donnie Wahlberg, who portrayed NYPD Detective Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods, has been married to actress and TV host Jenny McCarthy for over 10 years.
The couple began dating in July 2013 and were married on Aug. 31, 2014, in St. Charles, Ill. Their wedding was featured on their A&E reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny, which aired for three seasons.
Wahlberg, who is set to star in his own Blue Bloods spinoff, and McCarthy have both been married before and have children from their previous relationships. (Wahlberg was married to Kimberly Fey from 1999 to 2008, while McCarthy and John Mallory Asher were married from 1998 to 2005.) The blended family lives in a five-bedroom Tudor in St. Charles, outside of Chicago.
McCarthy shared with PEOPLE in March 2025 that she feels “very lucky” for her relationship with Wahlberg. She opened up about the key to their successful marriage.
“We continue to date each other, because I think we get really complacent and it can become a brother and sister relationship real quick, unless you do the work,” she explained.
Bridget Moynahan and Andrew Frankel
Bridget Moynahan played ADA Erin Reagan on Blue Bloods, a divorced, single mother who winds up finding love again in the series finale.
In real life, Moynahan dated former NFL quarterback Tom Brady for three years and they welcomed their son Jack in August 2007, shortly after splitting.
The actress eventually found love again with her husband Andrew Frankel, whom she married in the Hamptons on Oct. 17, 2015.
Moynahan and Frankel — a New York City businessman and a father of three sons — were first introduced by mutual friends. The couple primarily keep their relationship private, save for the occasional sweet tidbit shared by Moynahan, such as the romantic card Frankel gave her for their eighth wedding anniversary.
Moynahan also opened up about their relationship — and finding love in her 40s — in an October 2021 interview with Glamour.
“I met a really solid, good human being with none of the pretension or all that other litter,” she said. “He’s a really good person and a good partner. I don’t think as a younger person I understood what that meant when it pertains to real-life situations.”
Will Estes
Will Estes, who portrayed Sgt. Jamie Reagan on the CBS police procedural, doesn’t appear to be romantically linked to anyone.
While rumors swirled in the early seasons of Blue Bloods that Estes was dating his wife on the show, actress Vanessa Ray (who played Eddie Janko-Reagan), the two were never a couple. However, Estes and Ray shared a close bond on and off the screen.
“We’d spent a lot of hours together. We’re married without the romance,” Estes said about Ray to CBS’ Watch in 2019.
Estes previously dated Chicago Med star Torrey DeVitto. The pair confirmed their relationship on Instagram in October 2020, but appeared to have split sometime in 2021.
Len Cariou and Heather Summerhayes
Legendary stage actor Len Cariou starred on Blue Bloods as former police commissioner and Reagan family patriarch Henry “Pop” Reagan.
In real life, he is married to his wife, Heather Summerhayes. The pair are both originally from Canada and currently reside in New Jersey.
Summerhayes, who is an actress and an author, describes herself as her husband’s “roadie” — traveling to various on-set locations to support Cariou’s career.
Most recently, that included Summerhayes hosting the reception after the first reading of the New York stage production of Tuesdays with Morrie, in which Cariou played the titular role, according to The New York Times.
Sami Gayle
While Sami Gayle’s character, Nicky Reagan, may have dated a cop on Blue Bloods, her relationship status in real life is not publicly known.
Her social media offers no insight into her love life; instead, her Instagram showcases her family (particularly her older brother Chad), her pets and behind-the-scenes peeks at her role in Broadway’s Bad Cinderella.
But Gayle previously revealed that whoever she does date must win over the approval of her actual family and the Blue Bloods crew.
“There’s just a second round of screening,” she told the Hollywood Life podcast in May 2018. “It’s not just my family, which is hard enough, but there is a whole other family … I’m really just so lucky.”
Marisa Ramirez
On-screen, Marisa Ramirez’s Blue Bloods character Det. Maria Baez had undeniable chemistry with her partner, Danny Reagan (Wahlberg). But off-screen, Ramirez — who appears to be single — counts Wahlberg as one of her closest friends.
When Ramirez became pregnant with her first child, daughter Violet Rae, in 2016, no one was more supportive than her Blue Bloods cast — especially Wahlberg.
“It gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that my Blue Bloods family is there to help me transition into this new chapter of my life,” she told PEOPLE, adding that Wahlberg “did a little happy” dance when he learned her exciting news.
Abigail Hawk and Bryan Spies
Abigail Hawk might have been married to a cop on Blue Bloods, but off-screen, the actress who portrayed Det. Abigail Baker wed New York City firefighter Bryan Spies.
Hawk and Spies, a lieutenant with the FDNY, have been married since 2009. The couple also share two sons. However, Hawk tends to keep her husband and children out of the spotlight.
While Hawk was initially in a “state of denial” about Blue Bloods ending after 14 seasons, she shared with Country Living that the show’s conclusion allowed her to spend much more quality time with her loved ones.
“Having the entire summer with my family was an enormous blessing,” she told the outlet in October 2024, referencing how she would typically have to resume filming for Blue Bloods after the Fourth of July.
Hawk added, “This is a massive shift and I think it’s important to acknowledge that the biggest part of my career thus far has come to an end … It’s a loss but it’s also a gain of more time with my family.”
Vanessa Ray and Landon Beard
Vanessa Ray’s husband, Landon Beard, has been by her side for her entire 11-season run on Blue Bloods.
The actress, who played Officer Eddie Janko-Reagan, first met Beard at a rehearsal in 2009. The duo dated for six years before marrying in June 2015 in a boho chic ceremony in Pala, Calif.
Then, in March 2024, Ray and Beard revealed to PEOPLE that their family had grown, as the couple had become parents via adoption. Their son Isaac Ray Beard was born on Nov. 7, 2023.
Shortly after, Ray and Beard celebrated another milestone as a couple: The end of Ray’s decade-long stint on Blue Bloods. Beard commemorated the major career moment with an Instagram post dedicated to his wife.
“This young lady (2013) just finished her final scene,” Beard wrote in the sentimental caption. “11 Seasons. More than a decade of her life. A wedding. A home. A child. She’s done it all with grace and joy. Cheers to a job well done. I love you Eddie Janko.”
Robert Clohessy and Catherine Erhardt
Robert Clohessy, who portrayed Lt. Sid Gormley for all 14 seasons of Blue Bloods, has been married to actress Catherine Erhardt since the late ’80s.
The couple met after Clohessy moved to L.A. and booked a recurring role on the television show Hill Street Blues. Clohessy needed to find a place to stay, and his agent said he had another client who was moving back to the East Coast and looking to rent out her apartment. That client was Erhardt, and the two were married just months later, according to Main Street Magazine.
Clohessy and Erhardt share two sons, Myles and Byron. Both followed in their father’s footsteps and became actors — and all three have appeared in several episodes of Blue Bloods together, per Litchfield Magazine.
