Kevin Costner was pictured doing late Christmas shopping in Los Angeles at Guitar Center on Sunday, as he was pictured picking up a Martin & Co. guitar, possibly a gift for his new love, Jewel.
The 68-year-old actor’s unlikely new romance has been linked to the Grammy-nominated singer, 49, since last month, when they spent time on Richard Branson’s private island in the Caribbean over the Thanksgiving break.
It appears to be the first high-profile relationship for the Dances with Wolves star since his acrimonious divorce with Christine Baumgartner earlier this year after more than 18 years of marriage.
The two-time Oscar winner sported a casual look as he shopped on Sunday, clad in a black fleece long-sleeved collared shirt with light blue jeans and beige boots.
The Yellowstone star was pictured chatting with a fan as employees of the music retailer assisted him in loading the guitar into the trunk of his vehicle.
‘There is very big attraction on both sides’ between Costner and Jewel, an insider told People December 14, adding that ‘the relationship between Kevin and Jewel is fresh but not brand new.’
Jewel, the singer of 90s hits such as Who Will Save Your Soul, You Were Meant for Me and Foolish Games, enjoys her independence and does not date arbitrarily, the source said.
‘Jewel likes Kevin’s type and Kevin likes to be in a relationship, so this is cool,’ the source told the outlet. ‘He is having fun after his contentious divorce. He is glad that is over.’
The new romance comes months after Costner and Baumgartner reached a settlement in their divorce in September.
‘Kevin and Christine Costner have come to an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all issues pertaining to their divorce proceedings,’ the couple said in a joint statement released by the actor’s publicist Arnold Robinson September 19.
The agreement ends what had become a contentious court fight, and lets the couple avoid a trial that had been scheduled for this month in a Santa Barbara County, California court.
Baumgartner filed for divorce in May, and the two had already fought in court over child support payments.
After a two-day hearing in which both Costner, 68, and Baumgartner, 49, took the stand to testify, a judge on September 8 ordered Costner to pay about $63,000 per month for their three children, People reported.
Baumgartner had sought about $175,000 per month.
Costner and Baumgartner, a model and handbag designer, began dating in 1998 and married at his Colorado ranch in 2004.
They have two sons, ages 16 and 14, and a 13-year-old daughter together.
It was the second marriage for Costner, who also has four adult children from previous relationships.
