Blue Bloods Spoilers – Spinoff Or TV Movie?
Even though the Blue Bloods series is over, there have been rumors about a potential spinoff or TV film.
CBS has made the tough decision to end the acclaimed procedural after 14 outstanding seasons, despite the desire of many cast members and fans to see it continue. This does not exclude the network from looking into ways to expand the franchise, though.
Brian Robbins, co-CEO of Paramount Global, made the first reference to any new series set in the Blue Bloods universe in June when he alluded to “new franchise extensions” for the show during a meeting of stakeholders.
Although there were few specifics available about the series, fans were excited at the prospect of a spinoff.
Blue Bloods Spoilers – Not Anything In Development Soon
CBS Studios President David Stapf put the brakes on that idea just a month later. He explained to Deadline, “We don’t have any immediate plans for development, but it’s a cherished brand and show.
We want to ensure we get it right, so we’re taking our time to determine what the next chapter of Blue Bloods will look like. We have an entire season ahead to honor the show and its legacy, so there’s still plenty of time for us to work this out.”
Blue Bloods Spoilers – New Hope Came In August
According to a source who spoke to Closer in August, there have been talks about the potential for Blue Bloods-based TV films or perhaps a revival of the show.
Shortly after Donnie Wahlberg suggested to fans during a New Kids on the Block show that there might be “something else after” what was believed to be the show’s final season, this information came to light. He went on to discuss the possibility of spinoffs in more detail with TV Insider.
“I would be excited to watch or participate in it if it’s approached with the same spirit and care that we infused into Blue Bloods each week,” he said at the time. His feelings were shared by the other members of the Blue Bloods cast.
Blue Bloods Spoilers – Tom Selleck’s Two Cents
Tom Selleck, who plays his on-screen father Frank Reagan, has expressed that he is “open to suggestions.” In an interview with Parade, he shared his affection for the character Frank Reagan, stating, “but nobody’s really asked. I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere.”
With cast members showing interest in a spinoff and the series concluding with the Reagans in a happy place, there’s always a chance for a new series or TV movie.
While the idea of a spinoff or TV movie isn’t entirely off the table, there are currently no solid signs that CBS is pursuing anything beyond Blue Bloods. It might just be a waiting game, but for now, all 14 seasons are available for streaming on Paramount+.
