Kevin Costner has a striking opinion about Meghan Markle’s acting career after she became part of the royal family. The Suits star is married to Prince Harry and still works in television rather than merely focusing on her duties as a duchess.

Even before the Yellowstone actor claimed he wasn’t a fan of her career choices, he already had an encounter with the royal family, particularly with the late Princess Diana.

Kevin Costner Gives His Hot Take On Meghan Markle’s Acting Career

While speaking with Ross King (via Express), actor Kevin Costner gets honest about his take on Meghan Markle still pursuing her acting career now that she’s married to a member of the royal family.

Being in this circle that I don’t even understand –you know – royalty. It’s a unique spot. We watch it from across an ocean and sometimes we don’t understand exactly what is going on. She’s had enough attention for a lifetime now in a year.

He said that if he were in the same situation as Markle, it would be difficult to remain in the industry where actors would kiss someone who isn’t their real-life partners. “It would be hard,” he said, adding, “That’s why I’m not married to an actress. I don’t want to see my wife kissing somebody.”

Still, he would not want to pry into the actress’ life and limit her from whatever she wants to pursue. Costner concluded his argument with a comment: “There is so much thought that goes into, number one, being a wife.”

Kevin Costner Had A Feud With The Royal Family

Costner has opened up about that one time he invited the late Princess Diana to star in the sequel of his 1992 film The Bodyguard. He never brought up the topic until a year later after she passed away due to a car accident when the media revealed his plans for The Bodyguard 2. On The Howard Stern Show, he recalled:

When Diana passed, about a year later it had leaked out that I was prepping ‘Bodyguard 2’ with her. And what happened was, the royal family kind of turned on me a little bit. Like, ‘No, that’s not true.’ And it got actually kind of ugly. And I let it go for a while. It just got uglier and uglier.

The royal family did not believe the late princess was willing to do a Hollywood film. However, Costner shared that Prince William decided to meet him in Scotland years after Princess Diana’s death. That was when the royal member admitted that his mother fancied Costner and that he believed in the actor’s claim.

The Bodyguard sequel would have seen Princess Diana and Costner team up to explore the royalty’s complicated relationship with paparazzi. Unfortunately, the day he received the movie script was the day before she passed away.
