Blue Bloods has only a few episodes left before the series finale airs. The police procedural is still popular as it wraps up its fourteenth and final season because of the way that it blends cop and family drama, making the disappointing news that Blue Bloods has been canceled even more difficult to accept. Sadly, a fan-led movement to save Blue Bloods did not move the needle with CBS executives, so the series will end after the 18th episode of season 14.
The second half of the final season has not given many clues as to how the series will wrap up, making it difficult to guess the final fate of each Blue Bloods character. Instead, the series has offered standalone stories such as Frank standing against the mayor’s idea of bringing the National Guard in to combat crime or the family’s upset about Grace Edwards rescinding Danny’s award. With only a few episodes left, Blue Bloods will need to focus on offering a satisfying series finale.
Blue Bloods Has 2 Episodes Left (From 8 Total)
The Final Season Aired In Two Parts, With The Second Half Having Eight Episodes
The second half of Blue Bloods season 14 premiered in October, with the promise of eight episodes. The series aired continuously since its premiere, except for November 29, 2024. Blue Bloods was not on during that week because it aired a retrospective special instead. The Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy special offered several hints about what would happen during the finale while providing the audience with exclusive cast interviews and peeks behind the scenes.
Now that the special is over, Blue Bloods only has two episodes left: one more regular episode and then the series finale. It is not clear from CBS’ update about the next episode’s plot events whether this episode, entitled “Entitlement,” will plant any seeds for the finale or whether the wrap-up will take place only in the final episode. The next new episode will air on December 6, 2024, after which the heartbreaking news will be that only the finale remains to be aired.
The Blue Bloods Series Finale Is On December 13, 2024
The Episode Will Involve A Final Mission For Frank And All The Reagans
Blue Bloods season 14, episode 18 will be the series finale, airing on December 13, 2024, on CBS. While the series has kept much of the final wrap-up secret as it can, there are a few things that are known. The logline has been released for the episode, and it states that “it’s all hands on deck for the Reagan family,” alluding to the fact that the finale will feature a case that all the Reagans will have to work on together.
The Reagans will band together to fight gang members who are united in their desire to cause mayhem to force the NYPD to release imprisoned associates. The Blue Bloods finale, aptly titled “End of Tour,” will also include Frank going on a final mission to protect Mayor Chase. CBS has also confirmed through teaser photos that there will be a funeral during the episode, though it’s still uncertain who meets their end in the finale.
While no other major returns have been announced, several recurring characters may appear at the funeral as well, such as Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten) and Edward James Olmos are confirmed to be guest starring.
Finally, it has been confirmed that Jack Reagan (Tony Terraciano) and Nicky Boyle (Sami Gayle) will return for the series finale, and their formal wear suggests they are attending the funeral as well as the final Reagan family dinner in Blue Bloods. While no other major returns have been announced, several recurring characters may appear at the funeral as well, such as Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten) and Edward James Olmos are confirmed to be guest starring.
What Time Blue Bloods Episodes Release
The Final Two Episodes Will Air on CBS In The Series’ Usual Time Slot
Blue Bloods’ final episodes will air in the same time slot the series has dominated for 14 years: Fridays at 10 PM EST, ending at 11 PM EST. Both episodes will be only one hour in length, so there is no need for CBS to adjust its schedule to accommodate the needs of the series finale. The penultimate episode will likely show a promo for the finale as the final credits roll.
Although Blue Bloods has always aired on CBS on Fridays, in recent years the episodes have also become available to stream on Paramount+ the day after they air. The Blue Bloods series finale will thus be available for streaming on Saturday, December 14, 2024. While the network has not offered any updates on how long it plans to continue to make Blue Bloods available on its streaming site, all 14 seasons are currently available and likely will be for some time, allowing those audience members who aren’t ready to say goodbye to rewatch their favorite episodes after the finale.
