The Yellowstone universe seems to be at a tumultuous stage at this point, with one of the only things known about the saga being that it would end with the release of the second part of its fifth and final season. Well, that, and what Kelly Reilly, the one who plays Beth Dutton in the series, had to say about this upcoming season.
That being said, Reilly revealed a lot of insights into how this super-sized season 5 would unfold among the audiences, adding the necessary spices in the perfect places for the drama. And amid Kevin Costner hinting at his return to the fan-favorite series after his messily unceremonious exit, this seems like the perfect update that the fans needed.
Kelly Reilly Gets Candid About Yellowstone Season 5
Kelly Reilly, who pretty immaculately embodied the character of Beth Dutton throughout the reign of the Dutt on family in the hearts of audiences worldwide, has opened up about what the future has in store for her character and the remaining of the Dutton family. And judging from her words, there seems to be a lot of juicy drama in the works.
During an interview with Town & Country Magazine, she initially started out with how Beth would play off in the remainder of the fifth season. Talking about her character, she said:
“Later this season, there are some really great episodes and moments where it may not be going her way, and she gets herself into a little bit of trouble, and it’s out of her recklessness.”
She added how the show would also see “Beth squirm a bit” in one of the upcoming moments in the saga, which, according to her, “is interesting to see how that plays out.” Reilly then talked about Beth’s “biggest enemy,” her brother Jamie, as she said:
“He is the biggest enemy to her family, to her father, to the bunch. She believes that,” said Reilly. “So you get those two things together, it’s pretty combustible.”
Further admitting how, “right now, her world is pretty much on fire” and the thing actually important to her is “family,” Reilly continued to share:
“In a weird way, at the beginning of this season, it’s back to the bickering sort of siblings, but what’s much deeper is underneath, being held at bay for a minute.”
So now we know what the upcoming second part of the fifth season of Yellowstone will be bringing to the table: A lot more ranch-y family drama, spiced to the core.
And while that’s that, there seems to be drama going on in the real life of a few characters of the series as well. Like, Kevin Costner‘s, for instance, who is now once again hinting at his return to the saga after his messy leave from it in the first place.
Meanwhile, Kevin Costner is Hinting at his Return to the Saga
While Reilly previously shared all these details to continue to keep fans’ interest in the series, Costner is continuing to do that by staying in the spotlight with his statements related to the saga. Or, to be more precise, with statements that hint at his return to the saga. (And yes, he did hint that after leaving the show on not-so-good terms with showrunner Taylor Sheridan.)
According to what the John Dutton portrayer said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:
“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to…I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”
Well, for what it’s worth, it seems like the members of the Dutton family have a lot of drama in store to deal with — both onscreen and offscreen!
