Yellowstone is back with a banging teaser. The show, a staple for audiences since 2018, is all set to take over the screens with Season 5 Part 2. What’s also interesting in the snippet is the presence of Kevin Costner. Although the actor is no longer part of the show, it seems Taylor Sheridan has used past stills to wrap up the trailer.

This also solidifies that Sheridan is indeed not afraid of Costner and his suing threats from the past.

Taylor Sheridan’s Bold Move Shows He’s Not Afraid of Kevin Costner’s Threats

After a long hiatus, Yellowstone fans are thrilled by the new teaser for the upcoming Season 5, Part 2. While this will be the final season, Taylor Sheridan has several other spin-offs up his sleeve to further expand the Yellowstone universe. In the meantime, the recently released teaser has given fans something to talk about.

Although it is well known that Kevin Costner, who was the leading man since the inception of the series in 2018, is no longer part of the project. But Sheridan using Costner’s old images and stills from previous seasons in the new teaser has raised some eyebrows.

Adding to the discussion, when the official Yellowstone account dropped the trailer on X, several users rushed to the comments section to express their opinions and sentiments.

The trailer starts with John Dutton’s iconic dialogue from previous seasons: “Legacy – you build something worth having and someone is going to try and take it.” The comments themselves show how both the audience and Costner’s fans are shocked to see the actor in the trailer.

While Sheridan may be able to pull this off without any legal objections, many interpret this move as a deliberate attempt to rub Costner’s exit in his face. This also comes after Kevin Costner threatened to sue the show’s producers over salary issues.

Kevin Costner Grills Yellowstone Producers Over Owed Salary

After months of speculation and scrutiny, Kevin Costner broke his silence for the first time following his not-so-subtle Yellowstone exit in 2023. The actor threatened the show’s producers over unpaid salary, which he claimed he was still owed.

The entire ordeal took place during a child support hearing in a Santa Barbara courtroom, part of his divorce proceedings with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.

The actor’s exit from the well-acclaimed show was reported back in February 2023, with the reason cited as a conflict in his shooting schedule. However, Costner argued that he had adjusted his schedule to film the first part of Season 5, even though it conflicted with his own movie franchise, Horizon: An American Saga.

The actor also added that, with no script currently penned for Part 2, his “pay or play” contract should ensure he still receives $12 million for those episodes, just as he did for the first part.

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is set to premiere on Paramount Network on November 10, 2024.
