Donnie Wahlberg was snapped filming Blue Bloods in Brooklyn, performing in a scene in which he played a homeless person while undercover on a crime beat.
The 51-year-old actor was reclined against a wall with a large grey blanket over his police outfit of a dark blue jacket, bulletproof vest and a light blue top with dark blue pants.
Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan on the CBS police show, looked to be in a good mood between takes of the action-packed scene.
Wahlberg spoke earlier this year with TV Insider about the creative direction the show will take in the wake of George Floyd’s murder at the hands of a police officer, and the subsequent movement and marches against police brutality and racial inequality.
‘We have to look at everything that’s going on in America right now and address it,’ he said.
‘I think we can certainly be more mindful and do a better job of how we do this. We’ve always tried to engage in tough conversations with multiple opinions.’
He noted that Whoopi Goldberg — who’s made cameos as councilwoman Regina Thomas — ‘has done some amazing episodes where her character is fighting for social justice and it creates great opportunities for us to engage in these topics.’
He said: ‘Certainly, we are aware that everybody in this country has to take a closer look at themselves right now and of course Blue Bloods has to do that as well.
‘It’s a good opportunity for us to really engage in a lot of what’s going on, but also maybe help the discussion and be a part of the discussion.’
Wahlberg is father to sons Xavier, 27, and Elijah, 19, with his ex Kimberly Fey; and stepdad to wife Jenny McCarthy’s 18-year-old son Evan Asher.
Blue Bloods, which is headed into its 14th season, stars Wahlberg, Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou, Will Estes, Amy Carlson, Sami Gayle and Steve Schirripa.
