Kelly Reilly brilliantly portrays the role of Beth Dutton in Yellowstone. The only daughter of Yellowstone Dutton Ranch patriarch John Dutton, Beth is a cutthroat businesswoman who fights ruthlessly for what she loves.
In Yellowstone, it is common to see Beth pouring herself a drink or lighting up a cigarette. Smoking is a large part of Beth’s character, as she will enjoy a cigarette regardless of where she is. With all Beth has been through, she uses smoking to take the edge off.
While it is clear that Beth enjoys smoking and drinking whiskey, actress Kelly Reilly has her own opinions on cigarettes.
Does Kelly Reilly Smoke?
Actress Kelly Reilly does not smoke in real life and wishes her character Beth Dutton would kick the habit. Reilly says that if it was up to her she would have Beth trade in cigarettes for Nicorette gum.
“I don’t smoke, so all those cigarettes are the herbal cigarettes. I hate them so much and he [Taylor Sheridan] has it in the script when she’s smoking and when she takes a drag, it’s all written. And so I’m trying to pitch him an idea that she gets addicted to Nicorette gum. So we’ll see next year if she’s smoking or not,” Reilly told ET in January 2022.
It seems as if Reilly did not get her wish as Beth has continued her smoking in season 5 of Yellowstone. Perhaps she will still get her way in the second half of the season.
The cigarettes used by actors in TV shows and movies do not contain tobacco or nicotine, so they are not addictive. Instead, they contain herbs such as tea leaves, rose petals, and cloves. They burn and produce smoke like real cigarettes but do not cause the damage that real cigarettes do.
