Could John Dutton Ride Again? Kevin Costner Hints That His ‘Yellowstone’ “Story Is Not Finished”

Kevin Costner continues to keep us on our toes.

Highlighting that his run as John Dutton on Yellowstone has “been a wonderful part of [his] life,” Costner teased to Entertainment Tonight that “some things have a way of circling back.”

“I haven’t seen that dust trail coming toward me, but I’ve always been open to what I started,” he shared. “Five seasons was a lot for us to do, and I think that story is not finished.”

With respect to the story, he clarified that “obviously it can go on” due to Dutton’s children.

Costner broke the news of his departure from the series in June via a video on social media, in which he said that he was “not going to be able to continue, Season 5B or into the future” amid his work on his Horizon Western epic.

Series stars Luke Grimes and Kelly Reilly, who are rumored to be leading another potential season of Yellowstone, opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the Season 5, Part 2 finale. While Grimes teased that “a very, very profound, beautiful ending” is in store for fans, Reilly gushed that the scripts are “so good.”

Meanwhile, Cole Hauser expressed his desire to continue playing Rip Wheeler in a series spinoff in a recent interview with Cigar Aficionado.

“It’s been a pleasure working with this cast, with Taylor Sheridan; why would we stop a good thing?” he explained. “Yeah, pen it and let’s do it.”
