In May 2007, Kevin and Christine welcomed Cayden, their firstborn child. Kevin’s rep confirmed the news of Cayden’s birth and that he and his mother were doing well. Cayden came into the world weighing seven pounds and fourteen ounces with dark brown hair.
Despite having a famous actor as a father, the public only saw Cayden on a handful of occasions. However, his parents have not shied away from gushing about their firstborn son during interviews and sharing glimpses of Cayden’s personality.
Cayden Wyatt Costner Became a First Time Model at 10 Months Old
Before Cayden reached the one-year mark, he was already gracing the cover of a magazine with his mom. In 2008, Cayden and Christine posed for an issue of BabyCouture, and during the magazine spread, Christine shared Cayden’s nighttime routine when he was a baby.
After a bubble bath, she’d slip Cayden into cozy pajamas, and after a last round of playtime with mom and a storybook, Cayden would have a “peaceful” sleep. Christine said:
“It is a good feeling walking out after he has fallen asleep, knowing that he is peaceful and resting. Maybe the biggest lesson was underestimating the love I would feel. It is immeasurable.”
Cayden’s mom grew up with a family who guided her through life, and Cayden has the same. From his older siblings his father welcomed in past relationships, to aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents.
Cayden’s father is a hands-on dad, and the pair spent much time together – whether Cayden and his dad were wrestling and having a little fun or when Kevin showed his soft side. Aside from acting, Kevin is also the lead singer in the band Kevin Costner and Modern West. And according to Kevin, Cayden inherited the musical gene.
Cayden had “little guitars” and would spend his time listening to his father’s band make music. “He likes a good beat,” Kevin said. Cayden would sit on his father’s knee and listen to him do “rough tracks.” In 2009, Cayden’s parents were preparing him to become an older brother, and things were not going well initially.
The singer/ actor and his wife showed Cayden his new baby brother’s bassinet, and as a way of “marking his territory,” Cayden threw all his books and toys into the bassinet. Kevin joked that he and his wife would have to look deeper into psychology to understand “what that’s all about.”
When and Where Did Cayden Wyatt Costner Make His Public Appearances?
Although Cayden is rarely seen, he has made one or two public appearances with his family. In 2015, Cayden, his parents, and his younger siblings, Grace Avery Costner and Hayes Logan Costner, attended the World Premiere of Disney’s “McFarland, USA” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
His mother wore a sleeveless white dress, and Cayden and his siblings matched with their father in black outfits. Cayden and his brother stood beside their father, with his arm around each boy, while Cayden’s sister held hands with their mom.
In 2019, Cayden and his family also walked the carpet at the Premiere of 20th Century Fox’s “The Art Of Racing In The Rain” at El Capitan Theatre. All grown up, Cayden wore a gray suit and hat as he linked arms with his mother, with whom he was nearly as tall.
He was all smiles when he sat courtside with his father and brother at an NBA game in 2018. The Los Angeles Lakers played the Miami Heat at Staples Center, and Cayden, his dad, and his brother dressed casually as they enjoyed the game.
Sat beside his father, Cayden and the actor/singer looked a lot alike, and his mother predicted so a month before Cayden was born when she said:
“I’m sure the baby will look like his father, but the next baby will look like me.”
As Kevin Costner’s son, Cayden’s name has already been thrust into the spotlight at a young age. But his parents have kept him under the radar for the most part, and it’s unclear if he’ll be following in his father’s footsteps just yet.
