Bud Spencer loved us like this: “Hungarians are as strong and generous as I am”
The man you can’t help but love Bud Spencer. Generations have grown up and are growing up on Bud Spencer’s movies. During his life, he repeatedly expressed gratitude for the love of the Hungarian people. He knows about the strong attachment of Hungarian audiences and is moved by it.
Before his death in 2016, Origo did an interview with the legendary Italian tennis player in which he mentioned our country many times.
“This is unbelievable for me and I really feel the love of the Hungarian fans. I think the elders still respect me for my time playing water polo, and maybe something like that. in the Hungarian way of life makes it easier for them to empathize with my life’s work. Hungarians are strong and generous, just like me in my films.”
Bud Spencer answered the question of why it is more popular in Hungary than in other countries. In another question, the interviewer asked him what he knew about our country, and he replied:
“I haven’t been to Hungary for a long time, but I have great memories of it, especially when we played with our water polo team in Budapest, at an international tournament. Great memories. I hope to return to Budapest soon. My Hungarian editor keeps inviting me, maybe I’ll come soon.”
Unfortunately, he did not return, as he passed away shortly after the interview. However, we will keep his memory forever with time!
