Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg make up one of the most popular sibling duos on television, but she admitted that she was initially hesitant to join the cast of Blue Bloods.

“I did talk Bridget into doing this show sort of,” the New Kids on the Block singer, who has played Danny Reagan for all 14 seasons, said during Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on November 29.

Bridget, 53, revealed that it took some convincing from Donnie, 55, to get her to commit to playing his sister, Erin Reagan, on the CBS show.

“Yeah, Donnie and I had done a pilot together probably the previous year,” Bridget explained. “It did not get picked up, so when he took this, he called me immediately to see if I would take it. And I had already kind of passed on it, but of course when Donnie calls and says, ‘Lets do this together,’ I reconsidered.”

Getting to share the screen with Bridget has been very rewarding for Donnie, who held back tears while talking about their bond during the special episode.

“She’s my sister, like on screen and off. I don’t want to get emotional … I love Bridget a lot. We’re not here without her.”

Previously, both cast members voiced that they were surprised to see Blue Bloods ending after season 14.

“I think we’re all a little disappointed,” Bridget said during a September 12 interview with People about the series ending. “We’ve had such a good time. We all want to be there. It’s a real loss.”

She explained how much she was going to miss the show and being a part of such a great team.

“This was our daily lives for 14 years. And we’ve all experienced together major life moments together, whether it’s births, deaths, marriages, divorces, illnesses, we’ve had it all together,” the model explained.

Donnie, on the other hand, initially said that he wasn’t “sad” about the show ending during an interview with TV Guide Magazine. “I’m just incredibly grateful,” he told the outlet on October 30.

But the singer-songwriter later admitted that emotions were running high as the last few episodes started to air.

“Can’t wait til next episode,” he wrote on X after the November 15 episode of Blue Bloods aired. “Though, I am hoping they don’t come along too fast. This is getting more and more sad the closer we get. But I’m here – #UntilThereAreNoFridaysLeft #BlueBloods.”

Now, two episodes remain in the show’s final season, and we cannot wait to see what’s to come for the Reagan family.

“I think that fans are going to be really left satisfied, but then also wanting more,” Bridget told TV Insider on November 15.

She also hinted that there might be a shocking ending for Erin and ex-husband Jack Boyle.

“The rest of the family really is not into him,” the Sex and the City alum teased. “This season he does come in a few times, and I think that people are going to be really excited about the last episode in regards to that story line.”
