During an interview for CBS, Estes answered fan questions. He spoke about the parts of the job he enjoys the most. One thing he said he loves is that he gets to drive the police cars during the scenes.
The cop stuff is so much fun. Those are the ones I have the most fun with. They’ve been putting me in the cars. As the seasons have gone on, they sort of trust you more and more. They find out where your talents lie.
I grew up in Los Angeles and when I was a little kid I would push this Z50 motorcycle my parents got me when I was about 6 or 7 years old, down the block so that my parents wouldn’t hear me start it, and I would rip around the neighborhood when I was a kid. So, I’ve been driving anything with a motor since I was a little kid. Now they’re letting me drive the cop car in Blue Bloods… They just strap a camera on the car and let me drive, so that’s usually pretty exciting.
This is Will Estes’ favorite Blue Bloods episode so far
Estes said the liked the episode where the mystery surrounding the death of Jamie’s brother was resolved. The biggest storyline for me personally was finding out the people who were responsible for my older brother’s death in the line of duty. The resolution of that storyline at the end of Season 2 was a cool episode for me. I don’t think I had a lot to do in that particular episode, but I love that storyline, so the conclusion of that was powerful for me personally.
How Will Estes says he’s just like his character Jamie Reagan
Another question was, “Are you anything like your character Jamie?” Estes said he thinks he’s just like Jamie Reagan. Here’s how Estes responded:
I think so. I come from the school of acting where all characters that I play are parts and pieces of myself. They’re either exemplified or diminished. So, I think I’m exactly like the character Jamie. It’s parts of me sort of obscured or parts of me exemplified, but it’s all me.
