It’s officially an end of an era for Blue Bloods fans. The show’s stars have filmed their final scenes, and all long-time viewers can do is wait for the remaining episodes of season 14 to air in the fall.
Donnie Wahlberg, who portrays Danny Reagan on the CBS drama, is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve. He shared his heartfelt thoughts with his followers on Instagram, and we have to admit we’re getting a little emotional too.
In the video, a tearful Donnie makes his final walk to his dressing room after filming the final family dinner scene. He says, “It’s my last walk down the yellow brick road. It’s been awesome. Thanks, everyone.”
The NKOTB star shared his thoughts in the caption. He writes, “I’ve taken this walk thousands of times in 14 years and it was a teary final walk from the Blue Bloods dinner scene, last week. More so than I could have ever imagined. Of course some sad tears — but mostly tears of immense humility. It’s been a wonderful adventure.”
Donnie continues, “One that I know so many of us, and so many of you, wish could continue. My desire to carry on, however, is only surpassed by the amount of humility I feel for having been part of this wonderful journey at all. I’m so thankful. None of it came easy, but nothing good ever comes easy — and none of it would ever occur if we don’t allow ourselves to believe that our dreams can become reality. Nor would it happen without the support greatest fans ever, the greatest crew ever, in one of the greatest cities ever and one of the greatest law enforcement departments ever. Thank you Blue Bloods faithful. Til we meet again. ❤️💙 #thankful #thursday #gratitude #love #blue #bluebloods #nypd.”
Fans of the show know that CBS has noted that a “franchise extension” is in the works for the beloved series, but there has been no word on what that might look like or which of the characters could be involved. We’re eagerly awaiting details and reminiscing on our favorite family dinner scenes.
