Blue Bloods spoilers reveal that this is the last season of the show and the finale will soon be upon us. The final episode will air in December, 2024. However, that doesn’t mean that Tom Selleck is going to slide into retirement and disappear from our scenes. Selleck may already have his next project in the works.
The Former Magnum P.I. Actor Has Held Many Roles
According to Blue Bloods spoilers, Selleck has served under both Frank Reagan and Thomas Magnum.
Magnum P.I. Lasted, who was nominated for five Emmys and won one in 1985, ran from 1980 until 1988. Selleck played Dr. Richard Burke on Friends as a guest star. Selleck has also held a variety of other positions.
In 2010, Selleck started portraying the patriarch of the Reagan family and the NYC Police Commissioner, Frank Reag an, on Blue Bloods.
Selleck thought about declining the part because he had previously portrayed police officer Jesse Stone in a TV movie in 2005. Selleck didn’t want his reputation to be limited to portraying police.
Blue Bloods Spoilers: Tom Selleck’s Interview With TV Insider
Robert B. Parker’s detective novels served as the inspiration for the character of Jesse Stone.
But Jesse Stone: Thin Ice, the fifth movie in the series, was based on a tale by Selleck himself rather than those novels. Now that Jesse Stone has started penning his own books, is Selleck finished with him?
Selleck made a suggestion that he is not finished with the Stone character in an October interview with TV Insider.
Selleck has free time now that Blue Bloods is ending, therefore he will undoubtedly have time to concentrate on other projects and make movies. How many more Stone films might Selleck make?
Blue Bloods Spoilers: Tom Selleck Mentions Non-Acting Projects
Selleck said, “Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later. But I need to regroup; I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing, I’m going to keep working.” Of course, Selleck has other ideas of thing to occupy his time as well.
“During the interview, it was noted that Selleck had written a 2024 memoir, You Never Know, detailing his childhood and work on Magnum, P.I. It was then suggested that Selleck could write a memoir discussing what it was like working on Blue Bloods and the Jesse Stone films.” TV Show Ace noted.
Selleck says, “It was really hard. It took four years and I’m not computer literate, so I wrote it with my pen and legal pad. I can’t wait to do the audio.” Selleck also noted, “One of the first questions I always get from people I meet is, ‘Are we going to see another Jesse Stone?’ Yes, Blue Bloods comes up and Magnum and even Friends, but first, it’s, ‘please do another Jesse Stone!’”
