Abigail Hawk is grateful for her time working with Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods. But the Illinois native revealed that he is a lot more reserved in real life than his character on the show, Frank Reagan.

“He’s very shy, which may not surprise people, but I think people assume that he commands the space just like Frank Reagan does,” Abigail, 42, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Monday, December 9.

“When in all actuality he just wants to be doing what he does with what Frank does with [his dad], Henry [Len Cariou], sitting in an armchair working on a crossword,” she continued. “For Tom, that would be working on his farm and working with his dogs and working on a script.”

Abigail “can’t say enough good things about him,” calling Tom “a credible person.”

Abigail previously shared that Tom, 79, was the reason why she was able to snag a full-time role on the series after she was only supposed to be in one episode.

“My audition was for the episode right after the pilot once it got picked up,” the Regarding Us actress said during Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on November 29. “It was really only meant to be one episode.”

Abigail has been a favorite on the show as Abigail Baker for 14 seasons. “Tom advocated for me and it changed my life,” she reflected.

Saying goodbye to the character has been bittersweet for Abigail.

“I just always thought it was so neat that she was such a young leader, and I think she will continue to live on and help young women know that they can also be leaders,” she told Woman’s Health in an interview published on November 14. “I think the reruns will still be going, you’ll still see it streaming on a random airplane going to Ireland. So I think I will continue having these young girls reach out to me and say, ‘Hey, because of Detective Baker, I also took the exam.’”

She revealed that she ended up taking something sentimental from the set to commemorate her time on Blue Bloods.

“Also, I got to take the [One Police Plaza Headquarters] office door. It’s in my basement,” the Reality Check alum confessed. “Everybody was, like, ‘What do you want from the set?’ And I said the door and they’re like, ‘The one PP door?’ And I was, like, ‘Yeah, that’s what I want … My fingerprints are on that door’ … I have other things, too, but that’s clearly the coolest thing.”

In the retrospective Blue Bloods special on November 29, Abigail further discussed why she wanted to take the door home with her.

“I’m making it very public and well known what I’m taking with me. It is that door that is directly behind you because I have let so many people in and out of that office,” Abigail said. “I already have a minivan for it. We’re ready to go.”
