Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spinoff, 1923, has now come to an end, but fans of Helen Mirren’s performance in the drama series should check out her new show that is also airing on Paramount+. Mirren stars as Cara Dutton in 1923, the matriarch of the Dutton family who aids in the fight to keep Yellowstone out of the hands of the family’s enemies. 1923 was even more gritty and intense than Yellowstone, with the characters taking on grueling journeys and facing enemies that would stop at nothing, leading to 1923’s twisted, tragic ending.
The series and Mirren’s involvement in it may be over, but 1923 is far from the last installment in the Yellowstone franchise, with Taylor Sheridan already planning several more TV shows for future release. MobLand Follows The Harrigan Crime Family And Their Fixer
After 1923, MobLand puts Helen Mirren into a new type of role, though her character remains just as powerful and compelling. The series was created by Ronan Bennett and executive produced by Guy Richie, though MobLand has already drawn comparisons to Sheridan’s shows. The new series shares many themes with Sheridan’s most popular shows, such as groups defending their territories or attempting to take control by force, elements of family drama, and violent confrontations. Despite their vastly different temporal and spatial settings, the two shows certainly appeal to the same audiences.
Much like Cara Dutton’s influence on her family, Maeve wields a lot of control over the Harrigan crime family and London’s criminal underground.
MobLand takes place in modern-day London and focuses on the dealings of the influential crime family, the Harrigans, and their fixer, Harry Da Souza, as they attempt to outsmart ongoing threats to their power. As for Mirren herself, the talented actor portrays Maeve Harrigan in MobLand. Much like Cara Dutton’s influence on her family, Maeve wields a lot of control over the Harrigan crime family and London’s criminal underground. Despite her seemingly calm demeanor, she is the one calling the shots, and she knows where the bodies are buried.

Mirren Appears Alongside Tom Hardy And Pierce Brosnan
Just as 1923 boasted one of the most impressive casts of the entire Yellowstone franchise, with Harrison Ford, Timothy Dalton, Robert Patrick, and more appearing alongside Mirren, MobLand has quite the impressive cast itself (even complete with another iteration of James Bond). Helen Mirren’s ruling status in the Harrigan family is matched by Pierce Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan as the patriarch. The duo play well together as the heads of the threatening crime family.
In addition to Mirren and Brosnan, MobLand also features Tom Hardy in a leading role as Harry Da Souza, the family’s fixer who often has problems of his own. Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Jasmine Jobson, and more also appear as part of MobLand’s talented cast. With just two episodes out so far, it will be interesting to see how MobLand progresses through its 10-episode season, hopefully continuing a promising follow-up to 1923 for Mirren.
