Seriously, 1923, what are we even doing here? Six episodes of blood, sweat, and emotional torment, and for what? Just to watch another top-tier character bite the dust? This is Taylor Sheridan’s go-to move at this point – build up someone incredible, make us care, then rip them away like it’s his personal sport. And this time, it makes no damn sense. None. Zilch. Nada.
After all the pain and struggle, you’d think survival would count for something. But hell nah, Sheridan’s out here playing Grim Reaper again, and frankly speaking, it is so exhausting. If this is the pattern, should we even get attached anymore?
Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 killed off a key Dutton, and fans are so done
Taylor Sheridan’s Western drama series just did it again. Another top-notch character gone. “This is what he does all the damn time,” one Reddit fan ranted, blasting TS’ habit of killing off key players right when stuff starts to get interesting. And after 6 episodes of absolute agony, Jack Dutton’s brutal exit feels like a literal slap in the face.
Let’s get to the basics. Jack (Darren Mann) was no side character. He was the future of the Dutton legacy. But well… he gets gunned down at the train station. The kicker? His killer, Clyde (Brian Konowal), had been playing him all along. That’s another Dutton heir down.
Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), though, finally got her hands dirty, taking down Father Renaud. She’s free, but after losing her father and Pete, is it worth it? Over in the snow, Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) is stuck in a frozen hellscape, her travel buddies gone. If help doesn’t find her soon, she’s toast.
And then there’s Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) — forget stealing Yellowstone, now he’s grooming Lindy (Madison Elise Rogers) for political games.
With Episode 7 (“A Dream and a Memory”) dropping April 6, the real question isn’t who survives, but what’s even left to save? The two-hour finale’s going to be one heck of a journey.
Fan reactions and theories: Breaking down the fallout in 1923 season 2
Fans are heated over 1923 Season 2’s latest gut punch, and they’ve got a point. Killing off key characters is par for the course in the Yellowstone universe, but this time, it feels helluva forced. From Jack’s pointless death to Alex freezing in the snow, fans are losing it.
As 1923 nears its finale, excitement meets frustration. Theories are flying: will Spencer’s train cross Alex, or is she doomed to freeze? Some say her death is what’ll make Spencer the ruthless leader the Duttons need. Let’s all wait and watch as to what the finale’s got to offer.
