Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck sported a very different look in the early days of his career, with no trace of his iconic moustache.
Fans of Blue Bloods were devastated when CBS announced the end of the popular series that masterfully blended police procedural elements with family drama for 14 years.
Leading the cast and presiding over the Reagan family dinners was New York police commissioner Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck, who has had several significant roles throughout his career.
Many fans will remember Selleck best for his role as Thomas Magnum in the 1980s series Magnum PI, while others will associate him with the Jesse Stone series or his role as Richard Burke in Friends.
However, before any of these iconic shows, Selleck had a stint on the unforgettable long-running soap opera The Young And The Restless.
In 1973, the now 80-year-old actor portrayed Jed Andrews in the CBS series. His character was married to Betty Andrews, played by actress Lanna Saunders.
He was also friends with Lorie Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer), with whom he had an affair. However, her heart truly belonged to Brad Elliot (Tom Hallick) at the time, leading to Jed’s departure in 1975.
Interestingly, Selleck was just 28 during the filming of The Young And The Restless, so he looked much younger. It was also a rare period in the actor’s career when he was clean-shaven.
Selleck is well-known for his moustache, but The Young And The Restless was one of the few shows where he appeared without his signature facial hair.
After his time on Blue Bloods, Selleck has kept busy and is currently working on another Jesse Stone movie, which is yet to be named.
The actor will return to his role as the police chief of a small New England town in the upcoming film, a character who left his previous job as a homicide detective in Los Angeles.
The Jesse Stone series is based on the books by author Robert B Parker, which first hit the shelves back in 1997.
Blue Bloods is available to watch on CBS.
