9-1-1 Spinoff, Set In Nashville, Officially Ordered At Abc: Here’S Everything We Know So Far

Good things come in threes, and that includes 9-1-1‘s.

Less than a month after 9-1-1: Lone Star ended over at Fox, ABC has announced a series pickup for the franchise’s next spinoff, 9-1-1: Nashville.

The Music City-set offshoot will air on ABC — the current home of the 9-1-1 mothership — during the 2025-26 TV season. Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani will exec-produce and write 9-1-1: Nashville, with Brad Falchuk and 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett also on board as executive producers. (Our sister site Deadline first reported the series order.)

While additional details about the franchise’s third installment remain under wraps, we’ve managed to learn a few things from the Powers That Be through various interviews.

Read on for a complete breakdown of everything we know about the second 9-1-1 spinoff so far, then drop a comment with your own hopes for the franchise’s next chapter. How do you feel about the Nashville setting? And which faces, new or familiar, would you like to see on screen?

Has the 9-1-1 Spinoff Cast Been Announced?

Because 9-1-1‘s second spinoff was just ordered to series in February 2025, we don’t know which characters we can expect to see — so we definitely don’t know who will be playing them. It’s also not yet known whether the spinoff will revolve around someone we’ll first meet on 9-1-1, or if it will follow an entirely fresh face.

When Will the 9-1-1 Spinoff Premiere on ABC?

9-1-1: Nashville will air sometime during ABC‘s 2025-26 season, but a more specific premiere date is not yet known.

Will Any 9-1-1: Lone Star Characters Join the Spinoff?

With 9-1-1: Lone Star having reached what many fans consider to be an early conclusion, it could be fun for a few characters to continue their stories on the spinoff. Fun… but not likely.

“I have no current plans for that,” 9-1-1 showrunner Tim Minear recently told TVLine. “But it’s not impossible!”

Will the 9-1-1 Spinoff Have a Backdoor Pilot?

That would be a no. Minear confirms to TVLine that the cast of the next 9-1-1 installment won’t be introduced early via a backdoor pilot on 9-1-1. We’ll have to wait until the first episode to see the new team in action.
