Blue Bloods fans saw a familiar face pop up in one of the Super Bowl 2025 commercials when Donnie Wahlberg made an appearance.
Donnie, 55, joined the iconic Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad, making a cameo in the seven-minute version titled DunKings 2: The Movie on Sunday, February 9. The New Kids on the Block member appeared alongside Ben Affleck and his brother, Casey Affleck, as well as Succession‘s Jeremy Strong and football coach Bill Belichick.
In the ad, Ben, 52, and Casey, 49, discuss the popularity of diss tracks and how they can use it as a way to battle other coffee brands. It leads them to compete for fans’ affection at a convention called Java Jam. As the rival coffee brands show up, they trade disses before Jeremy, 46, reads a Dunkin’ proclamation and the crowd cheers. They unite and all enjoy treats from Dunkin’. But there was a very special surprise for Blockheads at the end of the commercial!
At the very end of the ad, the Affleck brothers are fighting about which one of them originally started the fandom.
“Actually, I started it,” Donnie said while appearing in DunKings merch. Ben was ecstatic to see him, coming up to him and throwing his arms around him before the commercial ended.
“Everyone wants to be a DunKing! After seeing the incredible response to Ben and the DunKings last year, we created an entire coffee and breakfast universe to extend the fun and make one thing clear: Dunkin’ is for everyone,” Jill McVicar Nelson, Chief Marketing Officer at Dunkin’, said in a press release about the ad. “This latest chapter is bigger, funnier, and full of surprises — and it reinforces what Dunkin’ has always been about: great coffee, fast — plain and simple. We have a lot to offer, from all-day breakfast to high-quality drinks served at the speed of Dunkin’. And while we take those things very seriously, we never take ourselves too seriously. DunKings for life.”
Donnie reflected on the experience of being part of the Super Bowl ad in a subsequent Instagram post.
“Had an amazing time hanging with the #DunKings during the @dunkin Super Bowl commercial! Much respect to Ben Affleck for all the love and to the whole crew for the last minute invite. DunKings Forever! More to come,” he captioned a post.
The comments section of the post flooded with love for the star, who ended his historic run on Blue Bloods in December 2024 with the show’s 14th and final season.
