To close out its star-studded season 14, Blue Bloods is pulling out all the stops. The synopsis for the show’s series finale was officially revealed by CBS.
The final episode of the show will be titled “End of Tour.” It will air on CBS on Friday, December 13, at 10 p.m. ET.
“It’s all hands on deck for the Reagan family, as they race to stop deadly mayhem in the city when the gangs of New York unite together to demand amnesty for the release of their imprisoned members and those awaiting trial,” CBS announced in a press release.
The press release referred to the show’s series finale as “historic” after a “landmark” 293 episodes. It was also revealed that Academy Award nominee Edward James Olmos will have a guest star role in the series finale.
One week prior to the series finale, episode 17 of season 14 will air on Friday, December 6, at 10 p.m. ET. The penultimate episode is titled “Entitlement.”
“Eddie and Badillo try to help a man whose apartment has been taken over by a squatter who also happens to be Jamie’s confidential informant,” the press release said. “Also, Danny and Baez investigate when a star student is found dead in her dormitory; Frank suspects the governor has an agenda when he comes to him with a proposal; and Erin oversteps when she tries to play matchmaker for Anthony.”
Amanda Kloots will guest star in the second to last episode.
It seems like the final two episodes of Blue Bloods will be jam-packed with scenes that will wrap up each of the characters’ storylines. In photos released by the network ahead of the final episode, it looks like the Reagan crew attends a funeral. It is not clear which character will be getting killed off, but the NYPD is in attendance.
Another photo released by CBS shows Vanessa Ray, who portrays Eddie Janko, wearing a hospital gown and sitting in a wheelchair. Vanessa also teased what’s to come for her character and onscreen husband Jamie Reagan in the show’s final episodes.
“When I look at these scripts, at this point because we know these people so well, I think that it’s a little bit of, I’m just going to soak up as much of the relationships as possible, what’s happening — because the story is the story, but what’s happening with them emotionally, and I think Eddie and Jamie are, I mean, they’re such soulmates, you know what I mean?” she told TV Insider in an interview published on November 22.
“These two are just meant to be together,” she said of the characters. “They’re total opposites and they come from different worlds and they’re all of these things, but they are forever a team and they’re forever going to be supportive of one another. So I think that the audience is going to get to see some of that put to the test. I don’t think people are really ready for what’s going to happen in the next two episodes. Everything is happening. It’s all happening all at once.”
