Yellowstone Fans Dub Character ‘Most Underrated’ As Real Reason They Joined Show Unveiled

Yellowstone viewers have been hotly debating the Paramount Network show on social media ahead of the series finale, which is fast approaching.

Ahead of the neo-Western drama’s return on November 10, fans have been looking back on some of their favourite characters before the final few episodes of season 5 wrap up this chapter of the story for good.

To the frustration of some fans, the remaining episodes will not feature family patriarch John Dutton following Kevin Costner’s decision to officially depart from the show earlier this year.

However, there is one other character that fans hope will get more screentime, with one of them taking to Reddit to praise the “underrated” icon.

Reddit user @Adventurous_Gur7430 admitted that a favourite character of theirs is Dutton family cook Gator, who is played by Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau.

Sharing a picture of the character, they wrote: “This is the most underrated character in the whole show! I’m only halfway through season 4.”

Fans quickly flooded the comment section with support for the minor character, with one reflecting: “I always loved gator, he doesn’t get much screen time but when he does I always enjoy seeing him.” (sic)

“GATORRRRRR,” another fan enthused, as a third quipped: “The exception he took to serving cere al is basically my constant mood. Rispetto, da uno chef all’altro.” (sic)

Sharing another funny scene, one fan wrote: “One of my favorite scenes on the show. ‘And what did you kill for dinner tonight Gator?’” (sic)

“He’s the hidden back bone of that family he don’t cook id say they don’t eat lol” another fan replied. (sic)

One more offered a long tribute to the character, writing: “Gator is just a lovable sidekick to every scene he is in. He just shows up and does all the lines with a straight face. His food looks fantastic and it’s like ‘WTF aren’t you eating this?’

“Then he gets some of the best lines ever ‘what is gluten?’ I almost died from laughing so hard. It isn’t a funny line as written but man the delivery and in that scene. Lmao and he said it with a straight face. I’m gonna miss Gator.” (sic)

Some fans also discussed how Guilbeau was first cast on the show, with one revealing: “Turns out he was just a cook for the actors & they liked him so much they wrote him into the show.” (sic)

The actor had been working behind the scenes on Yellowstone since it first aired back in 2018 and made his on-camera debut that year as the Dutton family’s private chef.

His acting career came out of nowhere, as show creator Taylor Sheridan told him after just a month that he was going to “put him in the show”.

He told Us Weekly: “Taylor threw me in front of the camera and he said, ‘OK, go.’ And I said, ‘OK, go?!’ He goes, ‘Yeah, just, you know, do Gator stuff.’ … I was like, ‘Well, I guess I’ll just start making dinner and they can just film that.’”

After that, he returned in season 2 as a minor character with lines. The chef continued: “It just made sense after that. And it didn’t hurt that I’m the only actor who’s always on set because I’m already there, and I’m always in costume. It’s a win for everybody.”

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, November 10 on Paramount Plus.
