Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Is Already Breaking Records

The Yellowstone franchise has had plenty of ups and downs recently, but the trailer for Season 5b has proven that there are still many fans eagerly awaiting the next installment. The trailer for what was previously reported to be the final set of episodes of the Taylor Sheridan series has broken a huge record for the show, with the trailer becoming the most watched teaser in the franchise’s history.

Yellowstone’s fifth season will conclude with a new run of episodes that will seemingly close out the flagship series in true epic style. Featuring the return of Kevin Costner, despite the controversy over his departure from the role of John Dutton, there was never a scenario where people would not be seeking out this particular trailer – and the internet did not disappoint.

The Yellowstone Season 5b trailer pulled in a staggering 20.8 million views across multiple platforms in its first 24 hours. This made it the most viewed trailer in the show’s history, and a massive 45% increase on the trailer for the first half of the season. According to The Wrap, the trailer also landed the No.3 spot on YouTube as one of the platform’s most watched videos, and hit the top of the chart for videos specifically linked to TV shows. Not bad for a series that has had its fair share of troubles lately.

Yellowstone is Ending…Or Is It?

For several months, social media was filled with conflicting stories about why Kevin Costner had chosen to drop out of the Yellowstone franchise. Despite comments being made by both Costner and creator Sheridan, there are still two very different sides to the story being told. However, Costner is certainly out of the show after his upcoming appearance, but that doesn’t mean the end of Yellowstone is nigh.

Several reports claimed that Season 5 would be the end of the main Yellowstone series, with other spin-offs and potential sequel shows picking up the story. We already know that there are several new shows already in various stages of development, such as The Madison and Season 2 of 1923. What is less clear is whether there will be a Season 6 of Yellowstone. The newly released trailer does not mention these new episodes being the last, and that is something that you would expect to be heavily marketed if it were the case.

It was recently suggested that Sheridan had been having a change of heart about bringing down the curtain on this particular arm of the franchise, and if that holds true, then whatever transpires in Season 5b could just be the beginning of a new chapter for the Yellowstone ranch as well as a closing one for Costner’s John Dutton.

Yellowstone is expected to return to Paramount+ on November 10 with a reported six new episodes set to conclude the fifth season in dramatic style. Expect to see more records being broken by the show when they debut next month.
