The (potential) end of Yellowstone arrives in season 5, part 2, and its trailer heavily suggests which Dutton sibling — Beth or Jamie — will come out on top in the brewing war between them. Beth and Jamie’s hatred for one another has been growing for years. It began when they were younger and Jamie took Beth to get an abortion (and sterilized without her consent). Ever since then, Beth has hated Jamie, and vice versa, with Jamie’s animosity partly attributed to the fact that he is very different from and treated differently than the rest of the Dutton family in Yellowstone.
Following the Yellowstone season 5, part 1 finale, the war between Beth and Jamie has officially begun. Since the final six episodes of season 5 were seemingly made to close out the Paramount Network TV show, viewers will finally get answers regarding the siblings’ long-standing feud. However, the Yellowstone season 5, part 2 trailer teases new alliances and major portrayals concerning Jamie’s girlfriend, Sarah, implying Beth will win the war, and Jamie is destined to lose.

Dawn Olivieri’s Sarah Atwood arrives in Montana in Yellowstone season 5, episode 2. Sarah is an attorney representing Market Equities in their lawsuit against the state. She also meets Jamie Dutton, the Attorney General, who (practically) immediately falls for her. However, part of Sarah’s master plan is to get close to Jamie, meaning that she’s seemingly only using him to further her own agenda in the Paramount Network neo-Western drama. Meanwhile, the easily manipulated Jamie is infatuated with Sarah.
Based on the trailer and precedent, it doesn’t seem like Sarah will suddenly reciprocate his feelings when Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premieres.
By the end of Yellowstone season 5, part 1, Sarah has convinced Jamie to try to impeach his father, John Dutton III, who is the Governor of Montana. She has an ulterior motive for engaging in a relationship with Jamie, and she gets her way. Based on the trailer and precedent, it doesn’t seem like Sarah will suddenly reciprocate his feelings when Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premieres. Aside from John Dutton III’s appearance in the Yellowstone season 5, part 2 trailer, one of the video’s most noteworthy moments is between Sarah and Jamie. Early in the trailer, Sarah tells Jamie, “Old lions die in the jaws of younger lions, and you are the younger lion.” She is obviously referring to Jamie and his father. However, Sarah’s support of Jamie comes to a swift end when she later says, “I took all the risk, and I took it for you,” before slapping Jamie. Another flash shows Beth attacking Sarah, which might be what Sarah is referencing in the aforementioned scene with Jamie.
Jamie and Sarah’s falling out will undoubtedly have significant repercussions in Yellowstone season 5, part 2’s story. Even if she doesn’t love him like he loves her, Sarah is on Jamie’s side. With the war brewing between Jamie and Beth, though, the last thing Jamie needs is for Sarah to turn her back on him.

Jamie Will Have Almost No One On His Side In Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2
If Jamie no longer has Sarah (someone with major influence) on his side in Yellowstone season 5, part 2, Beth has won the war. Kelly Reilly’s character has almost the entire Dutton family in her corner. Meanwhile, Jamie has very few allies and has distanced himself from his family, leaving him with not a lot of resources to fight this battle with his sister.
Sarah’s betrayal will come at a great cost for Jamie as it might be the final nail in his (literal) coffin. Based on the scene between Sarah and Jamie in the trailer, it would honestly be shocking if Beth lost. Ultimately, Jamie and Beth’s rivalry is coming to an end in Yellowstone season 5, part 2, and the winner and loser have likely already been spoiled.
