Yellowstone’S Kelsey Asbille Declares Herself ‘Team Beth’ Ahead Of Final Episodes

The long-awaited return of Yellowstone Season 5 is almost here. Ahead of the show’s November return, which will focus on John Dutton’s warring children Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly), actor Kelsey Asbille has revealed which child she hopes will come out on top.

Speaking with Collider at Netflix’s Geeked Week to promote her horror film Don’t Move, Asbille — who portrays Kayce Dutton’s wife, Monica Long Dutton — was asked to share anything she could about the final Season 5 episodes. While she didn’t disclose much, she did believe that Kayce and Monica would get the finale they deserved before the credits rolled on the final episode. “They’ve been through hell and back. Yeah, it’s exhausting. … I can’t give anything away, [particularly since] this is the last season. But I do think this is the perfect ending, for each character,” she shared.

The fifth season of Yellowstone, focusing on John Dutton preparing for political war as he takes office as the governor of Montana, aired its first eight episodes between November 2022 and January 2023. The 5A finale saw Beth plotting with John to take out Jamie, the treacherous black sheep of the family, who, unbeknownst to them, was also scheming with girlfriend Sarah about how to get rid of his sister and adoptive father. When asked who she was cheering for, Asbille was “Team Beth” all the way. “There’s no doubt I am, yeah. I’m Team Kelly as well. Any time I have a scene with Kelly, it is such a gift, and I fall in love with her each time. I love Wes, too, but I’m on Team Beth, and I’m on Team Kelly,” she said.

Yellowstone Season 6 Rumored to Be in Development

While Asbille mentioned in her comments that Season 5 would be the final season of Yellowstone, that may no longer be the case. While it is true that Paramount Network announced that Yellowstone would conclude after Season 5 following the departure of Kevin Costner as series lead John Dutton, the network is reportedly reconsidering that decision. A report from Puck in August 2024 revealed that Paramount is toying with extending Yellowstone beyond Season 5, with Reilly and Cole Hauser expected to take over as the leads of Yellowstone. At this time, Paramount has not yet commented on the Season 6 reports, although with Yellowstone Season 5 set to conclude this December, fans should know what the future holds for the beloved series before the end of 2024.

New Yellowstone Spinoff Finds Its Cast

When Costner departed Yellowstone, it was reported that the series would end after its fifth season, with a new spinoff, then titled 2024, to continue the story of the Dutton family. However, since the initial report, 2024 has evolved into The Madison, a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana. So far, the connection between Yellowstone and The Madison has not been fully revealed, with no cast members from the former announced to appear on the latter yet.

Michelle Pfeiffer will lead The Madison as wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn, with Elle Chapman and Beau Garrett set to play her two daughters, Paige and Abigail, respectively. The cast also includes Suits alum Patrick J. Adams as Paige’s husband, Amiah Miller as Abigail’s eldest daughter, and Matthew Fox as a self-reliant bachelor named Paul. Production on The Madison began in August in Montana, New York, and Texas.

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 premieres on Paramount Network on Nov. 10.
