This week, news broke that Paramount Studios’ Awesomeness is developing a new series called Blue Bloods. Fans of the Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg series are excited since the actors have expressed their desire to keep their series going on CBS. However, the bad news is that neither actor will be involved in the new show.

It is also about vampires. Here is what you need to know about the upcoming series.

CBS Developing New Blue Bloods Series

When Deadline reported that a new Blue Bloods series was in development, it excited many fans. CBS canceled the Tom Selleck TV series, although it did give the showrunners time to develop a new finale for the show. However, Seleck kept fans’ hopes alive that it could return. The news of the upcoming series might have caused a lot of excitement.

However, this is not that Blue Bloods series. Instead, this is a new series based on the novels by Melissa de la Cruz. While the police procedural series launched in 2010, the novels that share the same name started publication in 2006, four years earlier. There will be fans who think the new Blue Bloods is trying to steal the name, but the books used the title before the TV show existed.

As a matter of fact, there were six novels in the Blue Bloods series before the TV show ever premiered. No one thinks the CBS series stole the title, but fans should know this before they falsely accuse the new series of doing the same.

What Is The New Blue Bloods About?

Blue Bloods is a series of vampire novels by Melissa de la Cruz. The last book in the series was published in 2013. The books include Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations, The Van Alen Legacy, Misguided Angel, Lost in Time, and Gates of Paradise. The series also includes companion novels, spinoff books, and graphic novels.

The series follows fallen angels from Lucifer’s loyal army who fell to Earth and live out their days as vampires. This happened when Abbadon and Azrael, Lucifer’s most loyal lieutenants, stopped fighting and betrayed Lucifer. When they went to Michael, it was too late, and they were cast out, waking up on Earth as immortal vampires.

Michael and Gabriel then chose to descend to Earth as the Uncirrputed and helped create the Code of Vampires, rules they had to follow to bring peace and beauty to the world. These are the Blue Bloods. However, there are also Silver Bloods, angels who remain loyal to Lucifer and refuse to follow the code.

The books follow Schuyler Van Alen, a Half-Blood, the only one of her kind, who learns when she turns 15 that she is part of this immortal lineage, and her life falls apart.
