“Just End It Already”: Taylor Sheridan’S Plot Hole-Filled ‘Yellowstone’ Arc Has Fans “Feeling Ripped Off Big Time”

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone became a sensation with its first season in 2018 and has gone on to reignite the Western genre in a big way. With Kevin Costner as the lead, the series delved into the dynamics between the Dutton family, the secrets that lurk between individual members, and trying to prevent potential invasions onto their Yellowstone ranch.

The series is about to end with the fifth season, and the remaining episodes of the season are currently being filmed. Despite the show being acclaimed by many, there have been some plot holes and unresolved storylines that haven’t been addressed. With this and the troubled production of season 5, fans feel that they are not going to get all the answers by the time season 5 ends.

Fans Are Still Angered By Yellowstone‘s Plot Holes Despite Its Great Appeal

Kevin Costner’s starrer Yellowstone has become the flagship show of Paramount+ and the most successful show for the streamer. The series started Taylor Sheridan‘s TV empire on Paramount and The Dutton family sags and captured the hearts and minds of people over the years. However, over 4 and a half seasons, there have also been some serious plot holes that have frustrated fans.

On a subreddit titled r/YellowstonePN, a fan who goes by the handle shalomcruz (on Reddit) listed several glaring plot holes throughout the four seasons of Yellowstone. From character decisions, certain actions, and unexplained events, the show does really have some unresolved arcs that may/may not be explained by the time season 5 ends.

The plot holes begin from the first episode of the series itself with Lee Dutton’s death and the show never features Lee in any of the flashbacks. Lee’s death is never addressed or discussed between Dutton family members and it was like it never happened. Jamie’s murder of Sarah Nguyen was another sloppy narrative that is hard to digest as there were no consequences or follow-up investigations for a missing reporter.

Talking about Jamie, his real identity and his arc became far-fetched as more seasons came. He is revealed as an adopted son that John took in. Being a Harvard-educated lawyer having many connections, it is hard to believe that he has never checked his birth certificate. Another Reddit user Greyhorse59 also had the same issues with Jamie and how Sheridan might have stumbled with his storyline, writing-

Can’t believe how many plot holes have found their way into this season. It’s become unbearable. Beth has evidence that would send Jamie to prison for life, yet he insists on the current plotline…makes no sense at all. Beth knows who the woman is that’s Jamie’s latest villainess and yet nothing from her.

Where is Jamie’s baby and mother and what happened to his ranch? This seems like TS is probably not really interested in this story much anymore as he is focusing on other projects…just end it already and save us the boring plot currently. Feeling ripped off big time.

Beth’s abortion storyline with Jamie, and Rip not being discovered for the murder of his father (four seasons in) are other frustrating arcs that have become illogical and ‘unbelievable’ by this point. With the show soon ending, it’s looking unlikely that these plot holes will be resolved and Sheridan seems to be focusing on greater things for its conclusion.

Among those were three exciting offerings from Taylor Sheridan including Landman, a drama centered around the world of oil rigs led by Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, Yellowstone season 5 part B, and the thriller series The Day of the Jackal starring Eddie Redmayne.

SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan expressed his excitement for the incredible series content coming for the service, especially with Sheridan’s shows, which according to him, represent the best of Hollywood. Sarhan said (via Variety),

SkyShowtime is very excited to share the strong lineup of new originals, exclusive series, and blockbuster hits coming to the service in 2024 and beyond. We continue to represent the best of Hollywood to our members, with star-studded titles such as ‘Landman’ and ‘The Day of the Jackal’ on their way, in addition to new seasons of audience favorites such as ‘Yellowstone’ S5B.

These are not the only shows Sheridan is working right now. The TV mogul is also developing the second season of 1923, Tulsa King and Special Ops: Lioness. He may be the busiest person in the industry and fans are looking forward to whatever original content Sheridan comes up with.
