“Jerk With A God Complex”: Kevin Costner’S ‘Yellowstone’ Drama Makes More Sense Due To Matthew Mcconaughey

Yellowstone can easily be called one of the most talked about series of recent times. Not only does it have exceptional storytelling skills, but it also showcases topics not seen being represented in everyday media. Considering just how loved the series is, it is no surprise that fans were seriously taken aback and upset when news came that Kevin Costner will be leaving the show indefinitely. While many reasons have been credited to the exit, one of the biggest was his strained relationship with the co-creator, Taylor Sheridan.

It would seem that Costner isn’t the only person to have problems with how Sheridan handles the series. A source has revealed that Matthew McConaughey’s entrance into this universe is getting difficult thanks to the director.

Matthew McConaughey Is Finding It Difficult To Star In Yellowstone

The Yellowstone series has become such a big phenomenon that it is looking to expand its universe through more than one spinoff project. 1883, and 1923, have already been released and more are on the way. One specific spin-off is getting more attention than the rest, both positive and negative. Currently being referred to as 2024, it will supposedly star the Oscar-winning ac tor, Matthew McConaughey as its protagonist. Unfortunately, it would seem that the process is not going as smoothly as many would like, as revealed by a source to Life and Style.

“He wants to make the deal — it’s become this incredibly drawn-out process.” said the source about Matthew McConaughey.

Apparently, the actor is not allowed to work on any movies while he is working on the series to avoid overlapping. What is proving difficult is the fact that they have no idea when the project will actually go into production, making it extremely hard for him to work on other things. This isn’t all as it was also mentioned by the source that the fact that it is being so drawn out is making the actor aversive towards working on the series.

Yellowstone Co-Creator Has A Reputation For Being Difficult

It was also revealed by the source that Matthew McConaughey does not like how unsure those behind Yellowstone are about hiring him onto the spin-off series. It almost seems disrespectful and insulting because he is one of the biggest names in Hollywood not to mention his Oscar win. The source did not end here, adding that Taylor Sheridan’s reputation also may have been to credit for how difficult this process is becoming.

“No deal has ever taken this long for Matthew,” the insider went on. “Especially after he won his Oscar, getting folks to meet his asking price has been a breeze.” they added, “Taylor’s got a reputation for being a jerk with a ‘God complex,” they finished by saying that “Matthew doesn’t particularly like behind-the-scenes drama.”

They mentioned that Sheridan has a ‘God complex’ that is making this extremely problematic. The source also added that McConaughey does not like behind-the-scenes drama, which may result in him leaving the series behind altogether. This would make a lot of sense considering the protagonist of the series, played by Kevin Costner, left under similar circumstances.
