Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan sat down with Joe Rogan to complain about the downfall of American culture including work ethic becoming ‘bad’ and toxic masculinity.
Sheridan, 53, is an American actor, writer, and producer, known for hit TV series Yellowstone and its sequels 1883 and 1923.
Alongside Rogan, controversial podcaster and conspiracist, Sheridan voiced his opinions on the downfall of American values.
The pair watched a video of a monologue called ‘If I were the Devil: A Warning to America from Paul Harvey,’ which they both found inspiring.
The 1965 monologue hit at those ‘destroying’ American culture by cautioning against ‘extremes and hard work’ and taking from those who have until the ‘incentive of the ambitious’ is killed.
‘Wow, April 3rd, 1965. Paul Harvey nailed it,’ Rogan said after playing the poem.
‘You can use the Devil as a euphemism for anything that you want,’ Sheridan said, ‘but the result is the same. We’re seeing it.’
Sheridan went on to complain about how nowadays ‘work ethic’ is bad and ‘all these things are racist.’
Rogan then brought up how masculinity had been labeled as ‘toxic’ – a topic he brings up on most episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience.
‘Oh yeah, I’ve been accused of that,’ Sheridan said as Rogan chuckled.
‘Congratulations. You’re on the right side,’ Rogan told Sheridan.
Rogan then discussed defunding the police in relation to toxic masculinity, saying ‘they’re all in the same category of things’ that ‘seem silly to think’.
‘You need masculinity and femininity,’ Rogan said. ‘Be whatever you are but you f***ing need it.
‘And if you wanna tell those dudes that are playing football that they’re toxic masculine… Who else are you gonna get? Who is gonna play football other than super aggressive alpha males.’
‘That’s not toxic,’ Sheridan agreed.
‘That’s natural masculine behavior,’ Rogan continued in his rant. ‘It’s not toxic. It’s all stupid.’
Sheridan then went on to claim that language is being re-invented before our eyes to try and prevent one person from disagreeing with another person.
‘I love microaggressions,’ Sheridan said.
Rogan agreed – saying ‘oh that’s a great one.’
Sheridan was recently involved in a legal battle with one of Yellowstone’s stars.
Bosque Ranch, a wide-ranging business empire founded by Sheridan, filed a lawsuit against Free Rein, Yellowstone star Cole Hauser’s coffee company.
The trademark infringement lawsuit filed on November 21 in the Northern District of Texas alleges Free Rein of ‘unfair competition and false advertising.’
Bosque Ranch, which also has a coffee range, claims that Free Rein uses ‘a brand mark strikingly similar to Bosque Ranch’s registered trademark, potentially misleading consumers.’
Bosque Ranch’s brand mark infuses the letters B and R like a cattle brand, while Free Rein also infuses the letters F and R.
This latest drama between Yellowstone mastermind and one of his stars comes after another of Sheridan’s much-publicized feud with Kevin Costner, who plays Dutton family patriarch John Dutton.
